The Zambia U15 National Team played out to a 3-3 draw with their Moroccan counterparts in the first of two friendly matches.
Zambia started strong and too the lead just fifteen minutes into the match through Vincent Chinoya.
Temwani Simfukwe added a second in the 21st minute. Morocco pulled one back in the 42nd minute thanks to Kaaouch Nabil.
Zambia restored their lead 12 minutes into the second half through Nthasilwe Mapulanga.
Morocco came back with two late goals from Bennane Ilyas and Saidi Assil to make sure the match ended in a draw.
Zambia coach Aaron Kawangu is happy with the display despite the draw. He feels the boys did well and tried to apply the technical bench’s tactical plan.
“The game was exactly what we anticipated, we played a very organized side, highly tactical but we stuck to our game plan and scored three goals. They also scored goals and truth be told these are the kinds of games we need to play as it gives us the best exposure. Iam proud of the Boys, having them travel for the first time and play in such an environment, I think they did more than expected, it’s good stepping stone,” Kawangu said.
“It was an open game, both teams attacked and played from the back, they made mistakes but I think the boys well. Tactically they understood what we wanted and tried to apply as much as they could.”
“There is a lot of areas that were exposed, as a technical bench we will sit and plan on how to approach the second game,” he added.
The two will square off again on Monday in the second match at 22h00 at the Mohammed VI Complex.
