Zambia U-20 off to Abuja

The Zambia Under-20 Men’s National Team has left for Abuja where they are scheduled to play an international friendly match against Nigeria.

Chisi Mbewe’s charges left aboard Ethiopian Airlines this afternoon.

The Young Copper Bullets will have a lay-over in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia before connecting to Abuja. 

The Young Chipolopolo will play the Flying Eagles on Friday at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.

Mbewe has named a strong squad headlined by the majority of COSAFA U-20 Championship winning players. 

Atletico Lusaka midfielders Charles Majapa Mumba and Julius Kumwenda alongside ZESCO United wing wizard Chipyoka Songa. 

Others include striker Kingston Mutandwa, Rickson Ng’ambi, Gift Mphande and goalkeeper Jeban Tembo. 

Zambia will then move to Dakar, Senegal where they will engage the junior Teranga Lions on February 7.

After the West African assignment, the junior Chipolopolo will head to Egypt where they will set up base before the commencement of the tournament on February 19.

Zambia’s base will be in Group C which will be based in Alexandria.Group C has Tunisia, Benin and Gambia.

Top four teams at the AFCON will qualify to the FIFA World Cup that will be held in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11.
