Zambia will play Ethiopia in an international friendly ahead of the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau.
Ethiopian media have reported that the game will be played between June 8 and June 11 in Addis Ababa and will be used as preparations for the upcoming Afcon qualifiers.
But the ZamFoot Crew understands that the match will be played this weekend.
The last time Ethiopia and Zambia met was in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by South Africa when a 10 man Ethiopia held the then defending champions to a 1 – 1 draw.
Zambia play Guinea Bissau on the 13th of June, 2015.

They will lose again, its just a waste of tax payers money, useless Zambian coach, fire FAZ president before you go play friendly
When are the boys leaving for Ethopia ?
I think Janza shouldn’t be near this game because he is a wrong guy for the National team.In short, he is a “punka”.
Punka???? kikikiki, this website has changed, has attracted more comedians than Soccer fans.
This site is so quite the Ghana U23 ELIMINATED from OLYMPICS
kikikiki, the loud mouth Ghanaians are back into their caves. Hopefully for good.
And Ghana under 20 has beaten argentina in the FIFA under 20 WC!!!
Take that moron!!
The much publicized NIGERIA U20 TAUGHT A SOCCER LESSON BY BRAZIL
Loooooooooool -!!
But why play Ethiopia and why at the time?
Her. I didn’t hear that well, loud mouthed Ghanaian are in the cave! What for? Ghanaian hibernation?
Has ZAMBIA ever been to any World Cup? Somebody tell me, please. Thank you.
we should leave Ghanaian alone, I am die hard fan of Zambia, I watch each and every game, but now I am tired of watching Zambian games, I think Malawi is better than Zambia now, we think too high of ourselves when we don’t deliver results, to be honest Ghana is way better then Zambia, they have best players, look at our players they play in Chinese league. it is shame to be honest
Hahahahahahahaha—Looooooooool-!!
Say no to Mr Janza. Kalu has proved 2 us why he hasn’t given this Janza a contract.
Guys have u seen the useless team Janza has called for the afcon. He has ignored kola again and recalled misfiring Jackson mwanza. Mayuka has also not being selected. Awe we are tired of this rubbish. The team is totally useless. Janza has to go!
Why are these f000ls ignoring kola. Kola is the hottest African striker in Israel and he will be playing in the europa league next season. How is Jackson mwanza better than someone who plays in the europa league?
Did Jackson take your girl friend Ba mwisho? Jackson Mwanza is a very good player, and discipline. Kola, Kangwa awe mwee, ine never watched anything sensible from them. Can those two even kick a free-kick, the set-pieces?
I wonder why Fwayo has been included, he will spoil the atmosphere again.
Jackson mwanza is useless the f00l failed in Sudan how can he compete with kola who is europa material. Kola has scored goals against dinamo Moscow in europa. How is that failure Jackson mwanza anywhere near kola. Janza is a big f00l. We are tired.
Where is the team @ john
Sad news indeed we thought Zambia was goin to parade its stars which includes the likes of mayuka n kola . The truth is at moment Zambia has coach . The man who is in charge is a moving grave . Period .
Guys where is the team that’s been selected?
Its interesting that janza atributes the poor performance of the national team to the lack of sharpness of our strikers. He says this is symptomatic of poor coaching at club level, thats why the lack of scoring in league matches is sipping into the national team. But mr janza sir, u are the one who’s been training these coaches the last few years as head lucturer of fifa/faz mandatory courses for premier league coaches. So what does this say about your own training abilities????
Honour Janza has named his provisional 29-member team for Zambia’s opening 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier against Guinea Bissau to be played on June 13 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The team includes a recall for midfielder Fwayo Tembo of FC Astra in Romania who returns for the first time since the 2015 Africa Cup qualifier against Niger last October.
Janza has also included five Zambia Under-23 players who played in Sunday’s 2015 Caf Under-23 Cup qualifier against Botswana that Young Chipolopolo won 2-1 on aggregate to advance to the final qualifying stage.
Also in the team are 18 players from Zambia’s 2015 Cosafa Cup outing in South Africa.
They include midfielder Allan Mukuka and defender Aaron Katebe who produced some notable performances despite the dethroned regional champions quarterfinal exit from the title race.
Meanwhile, the same team will face Ethiopia in an away friendly this Saturday and departs Lusaka for Addis Ababa on Tuesday for the weekend appointment.
TEAM:
Goalkeepers: Kennedy Mweene (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa), Danny Munyao (Red Arrows), Jacob Banda (Zesco United)
Defenders: Davies Nkausu (University of Pretoria, South Africa), Christopher Munthali (Power Dynamos), Stopilla Sunzu, Aaron Katebe (FC Platinum, Zimbabwe), Kabaso Chongo (TP Mazembe, DRC), Emmanuel Mbola (Hapoel Ra’anana, Israel), Donaciano Malama, Kayawe Kapota (Both Nkana), Benedict Chepeshi (Red Arrows), Boyd Mkandawire (Napsa Stars)
Midfielders: Nathan Sinkala, Rainford Kalaba (Both TP Mazembe,DRC), Allan Mukuka, Jackson Chirwa (Both Green Buffaloes), Chisamba Lungu (FC Ural,Russia) Justin Zulu, Kondwani Mtonga (Both Zesco United), Paul Simpemba (Kabwe Warriors), Kennedy Mudenda (Power Dynamos), Mukuka Mulenga (Mamelodi Sundowns,South Africa)
Strikers: Fwayo Tembo (FC Astra, Romania), Jackson Mwanza (Zesco United), Ronald Kampamba (Wadi Degla, Egypt), Jimmy Ndhlovu (Power Dynamos), Bornwell Mwape (Amazulu, South Africa), Patson Daka (Nchanga Rangers)
Guys wat do u make of this team selection? Who are we missing on that list and who don’t we need? Janza may not hear but I think its worth it to inbox him on facebook coz he’s now taking us the fans for a ride. Why leave out Kola,Ng’onga,Lubambo and Kangwa and pick Jackson Mwanza, Donashano,Justin Zulu. We have players like Govender Simwala,Dominic Yobe who can beef up the defence but we pick Donashano who is not national team material. Iv never protested against Janza but I’m saying ABASH!!! JANZA MUST GO!!!
Am in you shoe, too! Am now tired and have accepted that he is as useless as portrayed by most fans, JANZA MUST GO
This coach and his money hungry boss do not listen to people,Kalu,we have told them and they know it also that players like Jackson,Malama are not National team material but they still include them again all in the name of trying to market them.Which team in their right mind would buy Doneshano and Jackson after watching them blander and misfire respectively like they do.
Jackson,Malama,Justine,Mtonga,Nkausu,Mweene, all these players are just being marketed as in for that stupid always faking injury I do not know what TP sees in this stupid player.
Janza is very dull, how can you leave out Mayuka, Kangwa, Kola,Jacob Mulenga and pick on Donashano Malama,Jackson useless Mwanza, justin Zulu sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my felloew Zambians we should forget about 2017 AFCON with Janza who doesnt know that for the team to win they must score goals. those close to Janza please tell him to call Mayuka,Kangwa, Kola and Jacob Mulega. if anyone has the number for Janza please text it to me on 0977861117 we try to pump sence in his big dull head.
We need to protest. Rodgers kola has been scoring goals at the highest level in europe how is he being ignored. I watched a match between dinamo Moscow and his Israeli club in the europa league last year and this boy is headed and shoulders above Jackson mwanza. Singuluma and Mayuka also can never be ignored. Mayuka simply needs one friendly to improve his sharpness. This man Janza has to go he is taking us for a ride.
The Rodgers kola of today cannot be compared to the one who played for golden arrows. This new kola is on a higher level.
If you are a zambian you can do your own research. Google kola check his stats
If you want to go further check his goals this season. How on earth can a normal football association with little resources in europe leave out such a striker. Nonsense!
I am very angry and frustrated how come the hottest African striker in Israel cannot play for the national team. This useless boy Jackson mwanza cannot even survive 1 season in Israel.
Is there no press conference held to announce the team selection as is common practice around the world these days?
Is our standard of soccer at such rock bottom we don’t have a single striker that is scoring on the regular anywhere in the world?
The only credit i can give Janza out of his many failures is the selection of Allan Mukuka the player i admire so much. The rest FIWELEWELE CHABE
JANZA is taking us NO WHERE
@ John Kola has a ratio of 0.45 goals over the last three clubs he has played for, that’s not a really great stat. I agree with you he is a good striker but he certainly is not as dominant a striker as the picture you are putting out here. He is good but is he a striker that can win golden boot at the Afcon or basically be strong enough to instil fear in defenders? truth be told he is not. Kola for me is a club player, when he steps out for the national team he is very average. lets not over hype our players. With that said I agree with you though that Jackson Mwanza cannot be selected above Kola. Jackson has failed to deliver over and over. Watching this Cosafa I stand to be corrected but for all the game time he had he only had in the region of three shots at goal.
For me right now we only have Jacob Mulenga. Sate Sate has shown a good step up in goal scoring form over the last two weeks maybe he is about to ripen well enough to be national team striker.
This is exacly what is happening with Patson Daka, we are over hyping the kid and yet we are the same people that will be shocked when all the hype gets to his head. He should be with the team fighting for the Olympics and not with the senior team.
Donasho for me is way too unpredictable and too inconsistent to be a national team player. When he has a bad game he is just way to poor to even refer to himself as a professional footballer. He really is amateur. He does have some games where he steps up but it is not worth the risk to play him in the national team.
Gents that watch the ZPL, how is Jimmy Ndhlovu’s performance for power? Is he scoring goals in the ZPL? why is it Janza sees potential in him?
I DONT SEEM TO GET IT THIS JANZA USED GIVEN IN PREVIOUS GAMES BUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED .
Janza should have asked for help from friends such as Patrick Phiri,Lwandamina etc just to assist him come up with a good number of players or just float the paper to the soccer fans so we could have come up with a number of players. This could have assisted him by comparing the lists.Their are a number of players that we know who are plying out side the country. We watch these players but some are not being called up.
For the information of fellow bloggers, Janza and all football loving Zambians do read and blog on this site. SO kumweba fye bwino. If he blunders, which is human, he needs to be told. But if he has a already developed a thick skin, that is his own Indaba.
Just afew weeks ago Kalu made it clear that this guy has a lot to learn but as usual,we were all over the place calling Kalu all sorts of names!I supported janza’s appointment but he has been a let down to say the least.
Everybody already knew from the onset that Janza lacked practical experience. Yes he is one of the three highest qualified coaches in Zambia but that is the theoretical part of it, as for practical experience he is seriously lacking in that department that’s why he needed one of the more experienced guys like George Lwandamina, Wedson etc to assist him. I like Chintu but he also falls into the same bracket of no experience so it is basically the blind leading the blind.
ful time fifa under 20 Ghana 3 Agentina 2
Janza,what’s the plan??
Janza has to call the player like Christopher Katongo, flexi katongo ,mulenga Jacob , etc who have experience not the team he has , janza is trying to kill Zambian player , pliz save us by stomping all rubbish u ar doing.
Janza has to ask a help From friends
Mr Honour Janza please please please save your self by calling kangwa .Mayuka
.kola and J mulenga and please malama . Jackson mwanza drop them
@Sly : ZAMBIA is playing Ethiopia becos your Cjonese-based players cannot or will not be welcome in any west african country for a friendly match. There should be mutual benefit on a friendly match. What wil west african countries gain by playing ZAMBIA’s Chinese based players in a friendly match? Nothing, practically nothing.
