This weekend the MTN/FAZ Super League enters week eight with four games coming live with the fight for the top spot and relegation battle continuing.
Zesco United fresh from picking up a third win of the season will be hosting Prison leopards of Kabwe at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in the friendly town of Ndola in an early kick-off at 13:00hrs which will be the first game of the doubleheader.
Zesco United will hope to pile pressure on log leaders Zanaco who occupy the first position with a better goal difference of five. A win will put them on top of the log ahead of Zanaco if the Bankers fail to pick up a win away to Buildcon.
Zesco United will rely on the form of the 19-year-old Enock Sakala Jr their most In-form striker at the moment with two goals to his name in his last two matches while Prison leopards, on the other hand, will be hoping to cause an upset at Levy by picking maximum points.
They are not shy of beating big boys as they have already beaten once this season in the name of Power Dynamos. They lie on position seven from six games they have played with a win at levy Mwanawasa likely to get them into the top four depending on the results of other teams who are above them.
The second encounter of the doubleheader at Levy Mwanawasa stadium will see Buildcon come up against reliable, Strong, and Sensational Zanaco who have proved strong in front of the opposition’s goal having netted six times in midweek.
Knowing that anything less than a win will put their top spot at risk, Zanaco will rely on their two lethal strikers in Rodger kola and Baba Basile to bang in the goals and lead them to victory.
Rodger Kola who leads the top scorers’ chart on five goals with an aspect ratio of one goal per game as he has started five of the seven Zanaco games this season will lead the front line with the hope of adding more to his tally.
On the other hand, buildcon who are fresh from a dramatic late comeback at 107 Ucar Godfrey Chitalu Stadium will rely on home form as they haven’t lost any single game at home this season. A win for Buildcon will see them climb places up depending on the results of other teams.
In Kafue at Khosa stadium, Young Green Eagles will welcome Green Buffaloes who are yet to lose a game this season. Young Green Eagles will have to improve on their scoring if they are to get the better of Green Buffaloes who kept a clean sheet on Wednesday against Lusaka Dynamos. Young Green eagles have scored two goals this season from seven games they have played giving them an average of one goal every 315 minutes.
With Geoffrey Silavwe likely to start a second consecutive game in goal after keeping a clean sheet a few days ago, will hope to do better to win the coach’s heart, and the central midfield likely to be marshaled by Zambian national team players Jack Chirwa and Leonard Mulenga, Young Green Eagles need to play an ‘A’ game to get the better of Green Buffaloes as they have started fighting relegation with the fifteenth position on their shoulders.
On Sunday Lusaka Dynamos will welcome Kitwe United who lies bottom on the log. Dubbed the drawing specialists after picking up six draws from seven games, Lusaka Dynamos look like the favorite and could pick up their second win of the season when they face a team with the second most porous defense in the league.
The game will be played at sunset stadium where Lusaka Dynamos will hope to pick a second win of the league. Other teams will be on bye as their opponents will be engaged in continental matches.
