Zambia Super League set to kick off this weekend

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed that the Zambian Super League will kick off on 31st October 2020 following the approval of fixtures by the Executive Committee.

In a statement, FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says all the hurdles have been cleared to ensure that the season kicks off on October 31, 2020.
Kashala says Clubs will be expected to adhere to the Covid-19 health protocols as the league commences.

“We are very happy to announce the fixtures of the 2020/2021 season for the Zambia Premier League. The fixtures have been approved by the Executive Committee clearing the way for the league to kickoff,” Kashala told FAZ media.

“Clubs will be expected to adhere to the Covid-19 health protocols as we commence the league.”

Week one will see Power Dynamos take on Young Green Eagles, newly promoted Kitwe United will lock horns with another newly-promoted side in Prison Leopards. In Ndola, Buildcon will welcome Lusaka Dynamos as Green Buffaloes takes on Red Arrows in a military derby.

Following two exciting encounters last season, CAF Confederation Cup representatives Napsa Stars will face dethroned champions Zesco United under Numba Mumamba. Seven-time Super League champions Zanaco will play host to former Assistant coach Dabid Chilufya with his Indeni side while it will be a CAF Inter-clubs competition representative’s affair as Forest Rangers open their campaign against defending champions Nkana Football club.

At the Railway Stadium, Kabwe Warriors will face Green Eagles and Lumwana Radiants have a date against the policemen Nkwazi Football Club.
The 2020/2021 football calendar opened with the Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield that was won by Nkana Football Club.
