Zambia has much better players than us – Angola Coach

Angola coach Sousa Gracia was quick to acknowledge that Zambia were the superior side after the two teams met in the first leg of the 2024 WAFCON Qualifier second round encounter.

Zambia put six past Angola on Wednesday to start the two legged tie on a good note.

Gracia believes Zambia just has better players compared to his side.

He also feels the poor quality of the local Women’s Football competitions in Angola is also not helping matters.

“It was not a good result for us of course 6-0 but I need to congratulate Zambia they are playing very well. I think they have much better players than us,” he said.

“We just need to keep working and improve local competitions, we don’t have strong local competitions.

When you don’t have a strong local competition it shows. The fatigue comes in when the other teams come out.”

“We just need to give experience to my players. Of course it will be difficult for us. We will just use this experience to learn more,” he added.

A Barbra Banda hat-trick and a goal each from Lushomo Mweemba, Ireen Lungu and Rachel Kundananji gave Zambia a resounding 6-0 win.

Zambia will host Angola in the return leg on Tuesday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 18h00.

Tickets are currently on sale at ShopRite Stores Country wide via Computicketing from as low as K20.
