Zambia secured a hard fought narrow away victory over Sudan in the first leg of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Playing under exremly difficult conditions, the boys from Lusaka held their own as they picked another away victory courtesy of a Winstone Kalengo goal.
Lwandamina handed Kabaso Chongo a starting berth with the impressive Stopilla Sunzu and Buchizya Mfune marshaling the defence alongside Boyd Mkandawire.
With news breaking that his club coach Herve Renard had been sacked immediately after warm up, Sunzu showed no ill effects as he was on top of his game.
In midfield, skipper Rainford Kalaba had a poor game again and ended the match as a false no.9 while Lubambo Musonda impressed on the right wing.
His clever cheeky pass led to Kalengo’s goal.
In the second half, Kalengo swapped positions with Kalaba and played on the left.
Collins Mbesuma continued his fine form at the tip of a midfield trinity comprising of Sinkala and Paul Katema.
Kabaso was replaced by Donashamo Malama while Spencer Sautu replaced Kalaba late in the game in his first competitive international outing.
Win ni win…congrats to the lads
Guys , the return match will be shown on bein sports channel for viewers in Canada n America…I have already pre recorded as it will be shown bells around 6am in Edmonton.
Zambia played well, and all our boys were good. But the official were a bit one sided. The stadium was pathetic how can caf allow a game to played on such type of pich?
Our boys viva you all.. viva tech bench… viva fax. . Viva GRZ… and viva all well meaning soccer fans… Shalom
Meant to say FAZ … shalom
well, ot was a good win for us. But that kind of defending was not good at all. The backline held on well and i think Sunzu is back. As for the mid, they were too defensive and only allowed an attach to happen by chance. What position was Kalaba playing in the 2nd half…coz i got confussed with the formula somewhere between the 48″ & 76″?
It was a tough match played on a bad pitch. The boys did well to grind a win under tough circumstances. Sunzu led by example from the back. That’s the Sunzu we had come to know. Good to see Mbesuma so fit and lasting 90 minutes kept the Sudanese busy at the back.
Though we still have some work to do before the return match. Only watched the last 30 minutes of the game due to other commitments.
Congrats Sudan for applying a strategy tht couldn’t work for U (ie taking th game to a stadium with a bad playing surface wen thy hv got good stadiums.). As for zambia we ar lacking in 1 or 2 areas buh all in all whts important is to win n nt to play well.
Where is john and company with their insults.
john is hiding. he has been silenced by the win.
kay hammer’s brother abram is also silent
We have mad people around mwana. If the team loses insults, the team wins insults and belittling it’s achievements. Everything is “Pathetic, Useless, and weak”. Its like that were the first words they heard from mama……….”This pathetic useless brat, what a weakling! Lol
Why always picking bones. say something sensible for once at least & stop the childish behavior. You seem to be an adult.

Zamfoot, why do you allow young and immature chaps like Kay Hammer, Abram, T C what ever to be bring childish and negative talk in this site? Always looking for negative! Filter hatful and immature comments please!
commitments.
The normal thing any normal human being will say is congratulations but since we live with aliens, kaya.
Kabaso is good if he only stops faking injuries all in all good job boys for the win and bear in mind that we are just half way to the group stage lets finish the job at Levy.
They played their mind games, are you new to the way these guys play especially Arabs they are masters at faking the injuries. I believe that was very clever.
zambia winning does not shame anyone. lwandamina is dull and pathetic. we had no cohesion. we will soon be eposed in gruop stage mark my wordz. sudan is a weak team
I am here you guys really amuse me you think lwandimina can take zambia to world cup after beating teams like Sudan and Kenya. Sudan was bashed 4-0 by Gabon before playing zambia this team is old and finished. Lwandimina is a dull coach and if he continues with his poor selection we will be hammered by the likes of Algeria in the next round. Kabaso chongo stabilised the defense and you can see why I wanted him on the team. But that is not enough fwayo, Mayuka, kola, mbola, singuluma etc all must be called back to make the team solid.
u r the öne that is dull & useless. wat did kabaso chongo do on the pitch. he was pathetic jst like you. shame on you for behaving this way
But you Zambia will loose! Awe mulibapubafye tata ikalinifye !
Boi iwe ulimupuba !
Don’t encourage and tease him you will only make John worse.
I was negative before the game and i’m happy to be worng. Zambian football has allot to prove right now(and maybe that is a good thing).
Let our discussions be fruitful. Ideas needed, not insults
Congrats chipolopolo boys!!you have done so well under very bad playing pitch!!why should caf allow sudan to use such a bad ground?its africa indeed!!
The pitch reminded of one “kalukungu stadium” on the copperbelt, but ba Sudan that was a PATHETIC playing ground ever, kwati niku primary school.
wel done our boys we are behind
u,
Congrats boys.Big up to sunzu and one tomfo-tomfo mbesuma.Mbesuma is truly back and he is a threat worldwide need to watch out on him and i hop that limping was just a mind game.we have won but we played very bad,chipante-pante throughout but again i think was because Sudanese were not using their minefield instead they were pumping long aerial ball to our defence.it chansa is missing in the midfied maybe fwayo can help us espe that now we have mbesuma holding the ball nicely
Our cach seem to have good results when playing away from home congrate ba chicken for the win
Step by step
We will conquer
At this moment the opponent was Sudan
& we got the result we planned for.
Some people they amaze me at first they were saying zambia will lose to sudan the best result the can get is a draw now that zambia have won they are saying no sudan is the weak team.john kay hammer and stumpy why can’t. You become coaches and administrates you seem to be intellengent than others
Well done. Zambia but useless one second yet again referee and the pitch wow say no more I guess that why they world call africa the developing nations as we still got a long way to go.
Well done Chipolopolo, its been a while since we last won two consecutive copetitive matches away from home, first it was Kenya now Sudan.Sinkala-Katema partnership looked good,Sunzu was on top of his game but Kabaso should grow up and stop seeking favors from the referee He is a good player but those silly things he does on pitch will once again cost him his place in the team. All in all am happy with the result.By the way why is it that some bloggers here start calling teams ‘weak’after we beat these teams. We were told that Sudan is a big team and all of a sudden it became a weak team after losing to Zambia?Lets learn to praise when something good happens not everytime its youcomplaining kawti you eat complaints ,mwapangwa shani bantu bamo kanshi?
Guyz john is right the needs to be strengthened . Jacob , chisamba, mayuka, fwayo , mbola, sate sate, kola, ngoma and Allan mukuka they shud be also called up… These players will add value. The current team looks very ordinary .. We need to compete with big teams in Africa …
Which football do you follow? 90 % of the chaps you mentioned don’t even play or are not playing well. Don’t live on past glory my friend!
Sate Sate being off form and loaned out by he’s club.
Sudan’s plans has failed they thought playing on the bad pitch will be difficult for Zambia, surely how can caf allow the game to be played on that pathetic pitch. Well a win is a win, they have saved me from heart attack this time, I still think something has to be done on that back line thanks to sunzu he is back, I was impressed with nfune good game he is coming up. Kalaba ichipale chachilamo that was not kalaba we know. Mbesuma excellent he is the complete player. Sinkala fair game, kelengo is Zambia’s number one striker nt taking any chance, I think danashano can make a very good right winger back he is steady and confident, katema with time he will come a good player nt now same with mukandawile, mweene had no pressure, lubambo good moves although the pitch was bad. Chongo brought stability at the back although he almost cost a goal.
Well done Chipolopolo a win is a win though it was difficult to play in that condition.
I said it,as much as i knw zambian soccer,we tend to win a game after failin to win th preparatory matches. It is meaningles to win a friendly, thn losing th actual game.Congrats Chipolopolo.Finish thm up Home!!
I’m impressed! Wow, I expected Zambia to lose by 2-0 or 2-1 so I can come bash you guys but boy was I wrong!
All those complaining after this result are just showing how much they want for football intellect. Even Nigeria would have gladly accepted a 1-1 draw in Sudan in the last afcon qualifiers. Good job guys but shame it wasn’t in the group qualifiers proper or you guys would have been on your way.
John and all the other Negative Nancys should take note.
Former kampombwa striker you’re right its just like kalukungu ground near mushipi in those days kikkk , though bravo chipolopolo.
Gud game ba Zambia.
Good game won under extreme bad conditions, pathetic pitch and biased referee. It’s not easy to win away in Africa. Well done to the Chipolopolo boys. The defence was not bad but more needs to be done. That small boy Mkandawire proved me wrong last night. He did far better than I expected from him. Hopes he continues with this performance. In mid we need a playmaker. But I cant complain, Mbesuma and the crew managed to contain the huge and tall Sudanese in the midfield. I expected a worse performance from Zambia but overall they performed well. There is still room for improvement though. At the end of the day, it’s goals that matter. 3 points taken on the road and we finish them on Sunday in Ndola. Big up to the Chipolopolo boys.
Now this is mature talk!
word.We finish them off in ndola.what’s happened to Kalaba, those who watch the game, how was his performance?
He was below average last night. He was quiet through out the match. I guess it was because of that red card he received in Algeria in the CAF champions league. He probably didn’t train. Plus that CA champions win with Mazembe last weekend. I am sure it must have been party time. You know what I mean.
yes I undeeestand hope to have him back for the second leg.
Eba Billy aba naishiba well spoken mudala
Thank you.
@ pathetic John, Zambia has beaten Sudan at their back yard and out of boardroom but what surprises me is your comments are not accurate, you are too inconsistent and childish.A pure soccer knows that Mayuka is recovering from hamstringing injury,Fwayo Tembo has gone back to his club, he needs time to settle, Chisamba had some flight connection problems,Kola is not at his best and he does not play regularly.Today, we have been Sudan,it has become a small team, yesterday it was big team.We lost 2 nail with Renard, he was pathetic. We have won with lwandamina, he is a fool.John learn to be serious Bro this forum is to educate and inform each other on football matters not the way you behave. Therefore, you are the most pathetic blog on this site if not useless.
Well said.
Nazo john is an armchair critic with no kindness and time to contribute viably but to break down…
Well done Zambia. Tough game in the end, but way to grind out a win.
This is also great for the Coach who has won two away critical matches in succession! And u call him dull? Let’s us be fair! The same dull one won the Zambian Super League! Well done team Chipolopolo!!! As Great Kalu said ‘we are Chipolopolo’! Shalom
Knowing the indiscipline of kalaba he didn’t train 4 the last 2 weeks
It’s just sour grapes baba. Two weeks ago Kalaba scored a gem of a goal in Algeria before being substituted. Today ati indiscipline bane be serious
Hypocrites ….all of you…its so sickening…after the DRC game u had all the insults…and now??…Patriotism….win or lose….
Some times I feel we don’t all our best players in one game, fusing the known and unknown has in most cases delivered for zambia.
This win was expected, like i said before the match; this Sudanese team is old and tired. They are the MOST WEAKEST Sundanese team we have ever played against in more than 50 years! We should have completely obliterated them if it was not for that PATHETIC primary school like pitch!!!!
So the coach put Mbesuma in a new role of advanced midfield and it worked. Got to give it to the coach he tried something and it worked well…so big up.
I’m just a little surprised with the positivity of the comments today, after the DRC game it was all doom and gloom….perfect definition of the line “football fans are super fickle beings”.
Kalaba was just out of it, I guess training was not on his schedule after the red card at TP and probably it was days of partying after winning the champions league but he is still our most gifted just hope he finds his feet on Sunday.
I know there are people who worship johns as*.this guy said Sudan is a big team if we don’t summon fwayo or mbola, will be embarrassed now we have won some fool is saying john is right.stumpy ,john and hummer you re idiots to say the least.winning away in Sudan and on a pitch like that u can only give a credit that’s normal.everything can not be pathetic or useless win/lose,have your tiny brains checked whom do you think you are ? When you ve never kicked chimpombwa to understand football.football is played on the pitch not on your puffed up lips.
mark my words lwandamina is a headless chicken he wont take us to the world cup. our style of play has become simple and generous to the opposition. but i wil give him one out of ten. one for been better than the clown herve renard.
CAF should not have allowed a world cup qualifier to played on such a PITCH, it is a risk to the players well being and their overall heath. They pitch was dusty and bumpy. How can CAF allow a game of such high magnitude to be played on such a HORRIBLE pitch??????/ This is a serious scandal!!!!
@Egwugwe or whatever you call yourself. You are getting it all wrong and twisted. Every soccer fan who follows football closely and with keen interest would have known that this was the best chance that Zambia had to beat Sudan considering their current form of that old and tired Sudanese team. It’s a pity that the likes of you did not see that. Like i said yesterday before the game; this is the most WEAKEST Sudanese team that we have ever played against in more than 50 years. It was not surprising that Zambia won the match. So calling us names and insulting us is not the solution!!!! Get that into your head!!!!
I expect Zambia to completely DESTROY that WEAK and TIRED Sudanese team on Sunday!!!!
The strategy was not to play an open game, but try to immerse up the pressure and hit them on a counter. If we played an open game they would have trashed us. That’s why u saw people like Kalaba, Mbesuma, Kalengo & Lubambo always running behind the center line meaning they become compact in our half when we lost the ball hence closing those spaces Sudan cud have used.
And when we won the ball, from helping out at the back they again had to start running forward into their position upfront. That’s why Lubambo and Kalaba never rely showed off their skill like always coz it was more about defending as a team today.
This must be said Zambia where tactically disciplined and defended really well. Few times that Zambia wanted to play their fast paced and long passes they were easily intercepted either by bad pitch or Sudan’s Clogged midfield.
The state of the pitch affected not only Zambia but it also affected Sudan too. Given the circumstances and providing that Zambia had taken a 1 goal lead meant that they need to do everything possible to defend that huge advantage. Now focus on the next crucial task in Ndola.
WELL SAID
Good analysis.
Where is Abram and T C ? Immature losers ! Dull to the core !
@ eguwuwu you are a f00l. Gabon massacred sudan 4-0 recently sudan is a weak team. Lwandamina will be exposed if he continues cheap team selection when he meets the likes of algeria. That small boy mkandawire cant play in algeria.
wow….footbal of comparisons is old “john”…so if the USA bt Germany …and germany beat brazil…can we still say the USA can easily beat Brazil too….SHALLOW THINKING …”JOHN”…
Mkandawire is the best left back we’ve had in a long time. You want Mbola who is always making mistakes, failes to trap the ball and always going down like that Chongo boy you wanted. Grow up and be objective for once. Tapalila ingoma. Mkandawire is calm and think when playing. Not chipante pante.
Where ever you come from is obviously an alien land. What kind of nonsense do you want to be pushing down our throats. Zambia has never beaten Sudan in Sudan and Lwandamina is the first coach to succeed since 1968, and you sit on your computer and want to play a small football god. You are very shallow in your analysis of the game only good at insulting as if that was your breast milk.
If you don’t want to acknowledge other people’s achievements, then keep quiet than all the time verbally abusing people. Grow up moron
To all bloggers at this site ,i realy LOVE U all not forgetting ZAMFOOT staff at large.reasons best to sober minded broggerz&those with questionable resoning
I expect Zambia to beat that WEAK and TIRED Sudanese team at least by 3 goals on Sunday!!!!!
To all bloggers at this site ,i realy LOVE U all not forgetting ZAMFOOT staff at large.reasons best to sober minded broggerz&those with questionable reasoning
Congratulations Chipolopolo for grinding out a win under very atrocious conditions. Caf must hit Sudan b4 its too late, they r playing God with regulations of Caf; busing a visiting team for more than 400kms is unacceptable. Having said that and won, the poor admin of the game in Zambia shud not b glossed over. The truth still remains Kalu and his minions must b booted out. Basically they can’t think out of the box; logistically they r below average and can’t organise players visas even if the next away game is next year! What is Kalu’s role at every away engagement?! Is he overall coach/team selector or what! Is he there for the allowances? Next president pliz must b a man in gainful employment. This Kalu chap has made it into a full time job. There in lies the main problem.
Congrats Chipolopolo for pulling a chestnut out of the blazing fire.
I’m surprised Ba John don’t wanna swallow his pride and stop casting insinuations.
And Zamfoot looks on unconcerned….I guess Zambian insult is good but a Ghanaian,Nigerian insults are so bad that they get removed IMMEDIATELY it is posted here.
Animal farm tactics…..
Congrats Zambia.

Chisamba a big doubt for return leg
11 November 2015, 08:18
It is now uncertain as to whether Russian-based Zambia midfielder Chisamba Lungu will travel home for this Sunday’s 2018 World Cup return leg qualifier against Sudan.
The FK Ural midfielder did not travel with Zambia to Khartoum on Monday for Wednesday’s 2018 World Cup second round, first leg qualifier against Sudan in Karima.
Chisamba said in an interview from his base in Russia on Tuesday that it is very unlikely that he would travel for the final leg fixture on November 15 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
He cited administrative reasons at the Football Association of Zambia for his decision not to travel.
“I am in Russia (and) no I will not come because they are no proper arrangements,” Chisamba said.
His statement comes just a day after FAZ disclosed that the player will be available for the final leg this weekend.
Chisamba is the second senior player in a space of two months to snub a call-up after Chinese-based striker Jacob Mulenga declined to play in a 2017 Africa Cup qualifier against Kenya on September 6 in Nairobi citing personal reasons.
Meanwhile, Zambia made their way to Sudan on the eve of the game at midnight on Monday after assembling in Lusaka while some foreign-based players flew directly to Khartoum from their respective bases where they converged on Tuesday en route to the match venue in Karima by plane located 400 kilometers north of the Sudanese capital.
That’s a big lie .a liar has no integrity.from saying we will be beaten by Sudan ,now things have changed to Sudan a weaker team Zambia would have demolished.some people’s analysis are baseless.
john I realise u are insane.in football the best team like German can beat ivory coast 5-0 and that does not guarantee German beating Sudan 10-0.ilichipuba
Nothing is settled yet, the win in Sudan might be for nothing if we can not finish the job at home.
And why shouldn’t we finish the job at Levy????
ba John we don’t compere the teams like that what of if we say Mozambique has beaten Gabon whom Zambia white washed. each team has its tactics and goal.so for George the goal was to win the match that’s all either 1 or 10 zero doesn’t matter
Okay have not been commenting much. I find most of the blog comments lately mediocre and worthless. Where is ROK when you need him. Even Zamfoot are posting articles with little depth. Give us a proper game analysis please!. i am waiting for a few sober minds to state the obvious. George Chicken Lwandamina is the best we can get under the circumstances. Remember we are a poor country and our economy shows it. Right now we need him more than he needs us. Which top coach will come to Zambia and work under the paltry conditions which George is working under and produce anything close to the same results. When we get bad results its because we just don’t have the materials to work with – coaching incentives and even talent. if you don’t play the youngsters as wing backs you have to choose between Kabaso and Mbola. Both very average themselves. There is more hope in giving the youngsters game time which is what he has done. Another mark of a good coach is he does not listen to the crowd but applies his understanding to the situation. He played Boyd against the odds and the youngster is slowly repaying the faith. Kabaso was as expected, average and is nothing but a stop gap at best similar to the fire alarm button in my office “Use Only in Emergencies”.
John football is not like mathematical induction,we drew with Gabon who were beaten by Mozambique from your analysis Mozambique should beat us no it doesn’t work like that dummy!!
We looked at the pitch.
It was really shabby.
Conclusions: get a goal and do not get naive and over exert ourselves.
It worked.
CONGRATS CHIPOLOPOLO.
Excellent result by the boys.. The conditions were all made to go against us but alas Sudan fell in their own trap.. Even the ref added questionable extra time at the break and at the end of the match.. Mbesuma played very well as a defensive mid, using his body and strength to hold the ball..You could see that the coach had told them to just hold it out.. Remarkable maturity!!
Congulatulations Chipolopolo,to all the retarded bloggers posting negative statements about our team, shame on just coz u have half brains u think u can just wake up and post rubbish here,Zambia is our beloved country and I believe George and the group ar on track lookin at the poor workin conditions they ar subjected to.
Tell these morons with a half chicken brain to have some respect for others. Lwandamina has been to the world cup as a coach albeit at U20 so who says he can’t do it or has no clue? He has coached almost all the players at club level or national team. Lets give him the chance and encouragement.
These people make this site a no go area for objectivity.Surely, even retards do appreciate others! We used to have very engaging and constructive discussions on this site but I don’t understand where all these negative oriented fans have come from and destroyed the wonderful spirit we had.
guys zambia will can qualifire when god say yes no 1 can say no.so every thing god knows congratulation chipolopolo boys dont lose hope guys.
congrats
Lets not get too excited we all kno our Zambia is unpredictable. Nice 2 c winston becomin a consistent scorer we haven’t had tht in a long time big up 2 him. A win is a win but thrz room 4 improvmnt mr Rooster
Hallo zambian people! Wel done chipolopolo for that win,but need to balance the team,we need big namaz atleast 5 more to boost the team we need physicy.
The FAZfootball.com website on facebook has some nice postings including players singing in the dressing before the match.
What has ZAF done about the pitch? Winning the match is one thing. Playing on “rocks” and potholes is another. We do we always throw our boys to the wolves. All the 11 players could have ended in hospitals. What a playing field. Where is CAF? Is CAF really serious? This depends on what ZAF sends to them. there is no way any European country will play on that field in Sudan. It is so disgusting that we are happy with just the win and no further complaints. The return match should be played on my village pitch which might even be better than the Karima Stadium. Is it a stadium, anyway?
shame shame on people who were whishing Zambia to lose , congrats to chipolopolo
So there are those who wished Zambia must lose that game? The problem is the hatred they have for George though he has won all the games he has played against his haters.George beat Namibia ,Kenya, Mozambique , Sudan and has snatched the ZPL trophy. This must be a white wash. 5-0 to George.
We have woooooooooooooon!!!!!!!!!
I hate people who ar owez negative.th so called John,nt sure whetha hes zambian or nt.If th Chipolopolo ar nt impresin u,well, mek yo own team to support. If thoz ar yo opinions,Well,Keep yo negativities to Yo Self!!
Whetha we win or nt,its our team, leave zambia,if u so wish. Its nt owez dat we shud criticise.Hapy fo u,Chipolopolo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
john lives in the bush he does not even watch the best local football live. his football is only based on wishes and tv. so forgive such slow thinkers
FT: TOGO 0-1 UGANDA, BURUNDI 2-3 DRC, NAMIBIA 0-1 GUINEA.
I’m just saddened that Chisamba won’t make it for the return game on Sunday. With Kalaba off form Chisa would have made a difference. This match is far from over. Last time the Sudanese were in Ndola they came away with a point.
We need to regroup and hit them bad this Sunday but it wont be easy.
Sudan ll come to Ndola and kick Zambia out!
Worry about Comoros my brother n let us be.
Zamfoot, new stories please!
Good to see Mbesuma back to his best. The boys are maturing and playing with intelligence nowadays.A valuable away win! Sudan earned their result. lets clobber them again.
chicken Geotge
wou Comoros hit the post
