Zambia’s Junior Chipolopolo moved to six points at the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations/COSAFA qualifiers after a convincing 3-0 victory over Comoros.
Perry Mutapa’s side have won both of their Group C matches without conceding, having opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Malawi.
Tumelo Mununga put Zambia ahead after just five minutes, finishing from close range after being picked out inside the box by Abel Salim Nyirongo.
The advantage was doubled in the 17th minute when Nyirongo finished from close range following a set-piece sequence. Jonathan Kalimina delivered a dangerous free-kick, with Duncan Musialela heading the ball into Nyirongo’s path before the forward poked it past the Comoros goalkeeper.
Zambia continued to control proceedings after the break and added a third goal in the 63rd minute.
Thomas Mwanza delivered an inviting cross which found Nyirongo, whose powerful header was saved by the Comoros goalkeeper. Kayula Chinunda reacted quickest to the rebound and calmly slotted the ball home.
The result leaves the record 12-time winners of the competition firmly in contention for a place in the semi-finals.
The other Group C fixture between Malawi and Botswana is currently being played.
Under the tournament regulations, the winners of Groups A, B and C will qualify for the semi-finals, alongside the best-performing runner-up.
