Zambia B seek redemption as they face Comoros

The Zambia National Team B side will be looking for redemption this afternoon when they take on Comoros in their second match at the ongoing COSAFA Championship in Durban.

The team were handed a shock 1-0 defeat to Malawi in the opening game on Thursday.

Aaron Katebe scored a sixteenth minute own goal following a defensive mix-up with Kelvin Kapumbu during a corner.

Coach Moses Sichone wants an improved performance this afternoon after that loss.

Sichone has implored the players to show that they deserve to be promoted to the main team.

“We have talked to the boys after a defeat in the first game. We have talked about the mistakes we made in the game against Malawi and we hope to do better against Comoros than we did in the first game,” Sichone said.

“Playing against a team coming into the game on the back of the win, there is always pressure in any game but we just have to be prepared and play according to the plan and hope we get the positive results. The team needs to be confident and believe in themselves, especially those that will be in the starting line-up. Players need to show that they deserve to be promoted to the main national team.”

“I know the fans are disappointed about losing to Malawi, especially that it’s been long since we last lost to Malawi, I don’t remember the last time Malawi defeated Zambia,” he added.

The former Nchanga Rangers defender is expected to make changes to the team with Mathews Chabala and Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale starting ahead of Aaron Katebe and Patson Kwataime.

Lawrence Mulenga will continue in goal with Libamba Moyela as the main striker supported by Golden Mashata  and Albert Kangwanda.

Skipper of the side Kelvin Kapumbu and Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba will continue their midfield roles.

The Copper Bullets and Comoros will square off  at the King Zwelithini Stadium in a must win game for the defending Champions.

The match kicks off at 15:00 hours and will be live on SuperSport, SABC and FIFA+ YouTube platform.
