Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander Lieutenant General Oscar Msitu Nyoni has handed Red Arrows head coach Warrant Officer Class Two (WOII) Chisi Mudala Mbewe an official staff vehicle to support the execution of his duties following the club’s historic qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
The vehicle, registration number ZAF-4623B, was handed over at Zambia Air Force Headquarters on Monday, October 26, 2026, fulfilling a commitment by the Air Force leadership to facilitate the effective performance of Mbewe’s responsibilities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Lt Gen Nyoni said the allocation was consistent with established Air Force tradition, under which the Red Arrows head coach is entitled to an official vehicle to support his work.
He explained that the decision followed a request from Red Arrows president Colonel Moses Kambimbi for a vehicle to help the coach carry out his duties, with the Commander having assured the club that one would be provided when available.
“The vehicle is intended to enable you to perform your duties effectively. It will help you move from one point to another and report promptly at the stadium to prepare the team,” Lt Gen Nyoni said.
The Commander noted that the provision of resources to personnel remained subject to the applicable conditions of service and availability, while acknowledging the support of members of the club’s technical bench for the allocation.
He also congratulated Red Arrows on their achievement on the continental stage and wished Mbewe and his team success in their forthcoming domestic league and CAF Confederation Cup assignments.
The handover comes days after Red Arrows secured a landmark place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in the club’s history, overcoming South African giants Kaizer Chiefs 3–2 on penalties at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Zambian side progressed despite losing the second leg 1–0, with Bradley Cross scoring for Chiefs to level the tie at 1–1 on aggregate.
Goalkeeper Charles Kalumba proved decisive, producing crucial saves during the match before stopping a penalty in the shootout to help the Airmen seal their historic qualification.
The achievement represents a significant milestone for the Zambian club as they prepare to test themselves against continental opposition while continuing their domestic campaign.
The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Air Force Commander and Chief of Air Staff Major General Henry Chiwaya, Chief of Training Brigadier General Geoffrey Hambulo, Chief of General Engineering Brigadier General Edson Lungomesha, club president Colonel Moses Kambimbi and members of the club’s executive committee and technical bench.
The vehicle allocation highlights the Zambia Air Force’s institutional support for Red Arrows as the club prepares for the demands of competing on both domestic and continental fronts.
