Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda has finished 18th in the 2026 Women’s Ballon d’ Or award.
This was Banda’s third Ballon d’ Or nomination. In 2024, she set a record of being the first african female to finish 12th, the highest ever at the time.
In the 2025 edition, she went two notches below, finishing 14th.
Africa’s hope for a Women’s Ballon d’ Or is now in Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga who has been named in the top 10. She has broken the record set by Banda and could become the first ever African to win the award.
The awards are taking place tonight.
