Zambia U20 WNT 3-0 Lusaka Select U20 Girls (Enelesi Phiri, Natasha Kapombo, Loveness Malunga)
Zambia U-20 Women’s National Team this morning silenced Lusaka Select U-20 Girls 3-0 in a practice match played at Margaret Mwanakatwe Bauleni Stadium.
The Young Queens scored through Police Dove’s Enelesi Phiri from a well-taken free-kick before Nkana’s Natasha Kapombo added a second goal connecting from a rebound after Edith Zimba had saved Shelly Masumo’s earlier shot to make it 2-0.
Loveness Malunga added the icing on the cake with a third goal from a long-range shot after it took an awkward bounce leaving Justina ‘Senior’ with no chance in goal for Select after she misjudged the ball to complete a 3-0 victory in 5 different sets rotational match with almost all the players featuring for both sides.
Select side comprised of players from YASA Queens, Football Chance Foundation Girls, Pataaki Girls, Luyando Foundation, Chibolya Sports Academy Girls, and Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club.
Coach Charles Haluboono and his technical bench were using this match as part of preparations ahead of back-to-back Costa Rica 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier second round against Malawi.
The Young Queens will welcome the Young Scorchers in the first leg set for Nkoloma Stadium on Friday, 24th September before traveling to Lilongwe for the return match on 9th October 2021 slated for Bingu National Stadium.
The winner between Zambia and Malawi will face Ghana in the next round after Mauritania pulled out of the Qualifiers.
