Young Copper Queens arrive in South Africa

The Zambia U-20 Women’s national team has arrived in South Africa for their Costa Rica/Panama 2020 FIFA World Cup preliminary round return match slated for this Saturday, 1st February 2020 at Orlando Stadium with kick-off slated for 15:00hrs.

Coach Charles Haalubono and his lasses are going into this match carrying a 2nil deficit and will be hoping to overturn the tables when they meet with Jabulile Baloyi’s drilled side who will be playing in front of their home fans.

Meanwhile, Coach Haalubono is upbeat ahead of this do or die encounter this weekend and has tasked his players to work on the finishing part.

Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew after his lasses defeated Malawi U-20 1-nil on Tuesday in an International Friendly Match played at Sunset Stadium.

Halubono said that the technical bench had taken note of areas where they needed to work on and he said they are ready for the match.

“It was a good game because we saw the areas were we made mistakes and we have seen corrections,” he said.

“We are ready to take on South Africa, we just have to improve on the finishing part – So we are going to consolidate on that.”

Two first-half goals from Chelsea Joy Daniels and Thubelihle Shamase were enough for Batsetsana to condemn the junior Copper Queens to a two-nil home defeat which was played at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium two weeks ago.

The Junior Copper Queens and Batsetsana will lock horns with each other on Saturday at Orlando Stadium. Kick-Off for the match is set at 15:00hrs.

The winner between these two sides will progress to the next round where they will meet either Botswana or Namibia who will be in action on Friday 31st January 2020 at The National Stadium in Gaborone with the Young Mares sitting comfortably on a 7-0 aggregate from the first leg which was played in Windhoek.
