Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club has defended their FAZ Women’s Super League title following a dramatic final day.
The Zambia army sponsored outfit edged Queens Academy 1-0 to seal the title owing to Red Arrows goalless draw with Bauleni United Sports Academy Queens.
Heading into the final day, Arrows just needed to win to end Green Buffaloes dominance while the defending Champions needed a win and Arrows to fail to win their game.
The Airwomen made a visit to Shamuel Ground to take on Bauleni United Sports Academy Queens, a team they have struggled to beat in the past.
And that proved to be the case again as BUSA held them to a goalless draw.
Meanwhile in Kabwe, Maylan Mulenga scored a brilliant free kick in the 41st minute to send Buffaloes to the summit with 81 points.
The COSAFA Champions won the match 1-0 and successfully defended their title.
Elsewhere, ZISD Women beat Play It Forward 2-0 while National Assembly edged Trident Queens 1-0 thanks to a Grace Mulaisho goal.
YASA Queens beat relegated Mufulira Wanderers 2-0 thanks to goals from Judith Soko and Harriet Matipa.
ZESCO Ndola Girls beat 2-0 while Green Eagles and Indeni Roses played to a goalless draw.
Goals from Thandiwe Nkhata and Madyina Ngulube gave Elite Ladies a well deserved 2-0 win over Nkwazi Queens.
Elite Ladies wing wizard Xiomara Mapepa has finished the 2022/2023 FAZ Women’s Super Division as the top goalscorer with 28 goals.
Skamale did not score on the final day but her tally of 28 was enough as Ochumba Oseke Lubanji who was closest with 26 goals also failed to find the back of the net against BUSA Queens.
Maylan Mulenga of Green Buffaloes Women’s Football club finished with 23 goals after scoring the spectacular freekick that won them the match at Queens and subsequently the title.
