WSL; Possible title decider comes early…Luyando welcome Chipata, ZANACO host Nkwazi as Elite Ladies and Red Arrows face off

The Eden University Women’s Super League enters week 4 of action this weekend with a possible title decider which has definitely come early, headlining the fixtures.

Champions ZESCO Ndola Girls will be away in Lusaka to face title contenders and the team they dethroned, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club in what is expected to be an epic battle.

This will be ZESCO Ndola Girls first match this season as they were away in South Africa taking part in the CAF Women’s Champions League| COSAFA Qualifiers were they lost in the final.

Last season, ZESCO Ndola Girls got four points off Buffaloes winning 1-0 at Trade Fair Ground and drawing the other match. The season before that it was the other way round, Green Buffaloes getting four points off Zegalicious and won the league.

The two teams have already met this season during the curtain raiser, the season opener, Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield, it was Buffaloes who emerged victorious winning 3-2.

EVA AND ENELESS

This match also means two of the most exciting talents in the Women’s top tier will come face to face in Evarine Susan Katongo and Eneless Phiri, easily the two  best players in the league.

In the Charity Shield, Evarine Susan Katongo scored a goal and assisted another while Eneless Phiri scored a brace.

They again will be very key for their teams on Sunday with Eneless Phiri being a menace on the wings and Evarine Susan Katongo teaming up with Natasha ‘Little Tasha’ Nanyangwe in the middle of the park to make one of the most exciting midfield duos in the league.

The win in this match, if any, will give themselves an advantage in the race for the title despite it being just week 4. That’s how important this encounter is.

In Lusaka, Luyando Foundation Girls will be looking to record their second win of the season when they welcome Chipata Girls at Independence Stadium.

Chipata Girls on the other hand will be looking to record their first win of the season having just managed two draws and a loss so far this campaign.

Tamika Simpamba will be key for Luyando Foundation Girls, she scored the winner against ZANACO Ladies and also set up Elinah Mbewe for her equalizer at Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles.

Elsewhere, ZANACO Ladies will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Nkwazi Queens.

Nkwazi are yet to taste defeat this season with two wins and a draw to their name while ZANACO have one win, one draw and a loss to their name.

Sarah Jere who had been out for close to two years due to injury got her first goal of the season last weekend which is a big boost for the Bankers Ladies.

Nkwazi will bank on the tenacity and resilience of Precious Nsama at the back and the two twin towers upfront for the goals in Zewelenji Nambeye and Stacey Gloria Mwelwa who combined for the only goal of the game against Nchanga Rangers Queens.

At Sentinel Ground, Trident Queens welcome Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles, both teams looking to return to winning ways.

Kamfinsa were held to a 1-1 draw by Luyando Foundation Girls while Trident Queens were handed a 2-0 defeat by Green Eagles.

In form Green Eagles will be looking to extend their 100 percent winning start to the season when they visit Konkola Blades Queens away in Chililabombwe.

In Chingola, Nchanga Rangers welcome stubborn YASA Queens as they hope to get back to winning ways after their shock 1-0 loss to Nkwazi Queens at Edwin Imboela Stadium last weekend.
