ZESCO Ndola Girls on Saturday afternoon thrashed ZANACO Ladies 5-nil to go top of the log standing in the 2023/24 FAZ/ZPL Women’s Super Division Week 17 encounter as the Elite thrash Kabwe Celtic while Indeni, Trident, Police Dove win away from home as Green Eagles and Nkwazi Queens share spoils in a Service Derby.
ZANACO Ladies 0-5 ZESCO Ndola Girls (Charity Mubanga 14′, 59′, Penelope Mulubwa 26′, Vast Phiri 32′, Fridah Mukoma 45′)
ZESCO Ndola Girls were too strong for ZANACO Ladies in a game played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka thanks to a brace from league top goalscorer Charity Mubanga who was later voted Top Star player of the match after a spending performance scoring 16 goals to wrap up the first round of the league as the leading scorer.
Others on the scoresheet were Penelope Mulubwa alongside a thunderous free kick from Vast Phiri and another goal from Fridah Mukoma were enough for Coach William Zulu drilled lasses to wrap up the first round with an emphatic victory taking them to 42 points at the summit of the table at par with second-placed Green Buffaloes who have a date tomorrow against ZISD Women Football Club while ZANACO remain rooted on 8th position with 24 points.
Red Arrows Women Football 0-1 Police Dove Queens (Ritah Mwila)
Police Dove Queens recorded their first ever victory at Nkoloma Stadium as they edged Red Arrows Women Football Club 1-nil thanks to a first half strike from Ritah Kaoma Mwila.
Red Arrows started on a brighter note dictating play in the early moments but Doves caught them on a break as Rita Mwila manovured her way past Arrows defence before slotting home a calm finish past goalkeeper Chimwemwe Mwale making it 1-nil in thr eighth minute in favor of the Fearless Queens.
Things got bad for Arrows 10 minutes after the goal as captain Susan Banda was badly injured by Esnart Ngoma who was cautioned with a yellow card while Banda was transferred to the hospital for further treatment.
That incident looked like it was a turning point for Doves who took the game to Arrows.
However, Arrows created so many chances especially in thr first half but failed to convert with the likes of Mercy Kaluba, Eunice Namfukwe and speedy winger Esnart Mukubwe who brought in some exciting play on the wings failing to find the back of the net as doves kept pushing for a second goal with counter attacking style and they have to thank their keeper Bukata ‘Bukie’ Kakumbi for putting up some good saves with a player of the match performance walking home with a top star decoder and eventually moving up on the table to position 9 with 23 points.
National Assembly Women 0-1 Trident Queens (Esther Mushota 7′)
National Assembly Women Football Club suffered a disappointing 1-nil defeat at the hands of Trident Queens thanks to an early goal in the 7th minute by Esther ‘Bauze’ Mushota to inspire The Female Conqueres to their second successive victory in a row in a match played at Lusaka’s Edwin Imboela Stadium.
Trident has moved up to 10th position with 22 points while Assembly is just 2 points away from relegation zone above Kamfinsa on 14th position.
Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles 0-2 Indeni Roses (Luyi Muyoyi 72′, Serah Moyo 82′)
Indeni Roses have revived their title hopes keeping the momentum going at the top after a securing a late 2-nil victory over relegation threatened Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles away in Kitwe to move to 39 points on 3rd position while Kamfinsa has 14 points on 15th position.
After a goalless affair for most part of the game, Luyi Muyoyi broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute before Serah Moyo added the second 10 minutes later to secure a 2-nil victory for the Oilo Ladies.
Green Eagles Women FC 0-0 Nkwazi Queens
Green Eagles and Nkwazi Queens shared spoils in a barren draw at NASDEC Ground in a Service Derby.
Both teams were going into this encounter bubbling with confidence following their last weekend’s victories hence bragging rights were at stake but nothing could separate the two teams as they settled for a goalless draw.
Eagles are still fifth on the table with 27 points while Nkwazi have also maintained their s spot on 11th position with 21 points.
The Elite Ladies FC 7-0 Kabwe Celtic Queens (Pauline Zulu x3, Grace Tembo, Elizabeth Mupeso, Priscilla Namwinga, Saliya Mwanza)
It was raining goals at NASDEC Complex as The Elite Ladies recorded their highest home victory this season thrashing tail bearers Kabwe Celtic Queens 7-nil thanks to a hattrick from player of the match Pauline Zulu who played in a rare role as an attacking midfielder while Grace Tembo, Elizabeth Mupeso, Priscilla Namwinga and a 7th goal for U17 starlet Saliya Mwanza also registered their names on the scoresheet for the coach Kamaya Masiye drilled lasses who are closing in the gap in the top 4 standings with 34 points.
The FAZ/ZPL Women’s Super Division Week 17 action will continue tomorrow afternoon with two exciting Lusaka Derbies with YASA Queens hosting Luyando Foundation Girls in what has been termed as a sister affair at 14h00 at YASA’s new home, OYDC Ground while ZISD will play host to Green Buffaloes at 15h00 at Independence Stadium in a game that is expected to be interesting from both teams who have some unfinished business from last seasons results which saw.
