Green Buffaloes Women Football returned to the summit of the FAZ Women Super League as they returned to winning ways beating Nkwazi Queens 3-0 in a rescheduled week four encounter played at the Green Square ground in Arakan Barracks.
The match started as a cagey affair with the two teams not wanting to give anything away. Buffaloes were the more adventurous side with Theresa Chewe and Irene Lungu posing a threat thanks to the brilliant ingenuity of Shelly Masumo in the middle of the park.
Buffaloes almost took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark as Lungu went past the Nkwazi Queens goalkeeper Eunice Sakala only for her to let athlete turned footballer Ndashe take a shot and somehow the newcomer hit the side net with the goal at her mercy.
Coach Charles Haalubono who returned from a compassionate leave as he lost his brother recently and missed Saturday’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Red Arrows made a first-half change withdrawing Ndashe for Ethel Chama.
It was Chama who opened the flood gates a few minutes into the second half with a beautiful lobe over the goalkeeper. Shortly after Theresa Chewe beat Eunice to net her seventh goal of the season and Buffaloes second of the morning.
Irene Lungu added a third to seal a well-worked 3-0 win for the Soldier Ladies who moved to the summit of the log table with 16 points ahead of the weekend games.
