Power Dynamos striker Andy Boyeli was clearly the best striker in the just ended MTN Super League season netting eighteen goals enroute to winning the golden boot.
The man acquired from Chambishi midway through the season scored some important goals to help Abayellow win their first league title since 2011.
Kennedy Musonda was the man in the first half of the season but move to Tanzanian outfit YANGA SC knocked him out of the race for the prestigious golden boot.
The Congolese forward was clinical in front of goal with some fine strikes throughout the campaign.
Clearly he has an eye for goal but where does he rank among the best finishers in the league in the last 12 years.
The 18 strikes he managed in the 2022/2023 campaign sees him finish in third behind Walter Bwalya, Chris Mugalu and Idris Mbombo.
Walter Binene Bwalya Sabwa scored 24 goals back in 2016 for Nkana.
Idris Mbombo and Chris Mushimba Mugalu scored 20 goals in 2018 and 2017 respectively.
Boyeli matched the tally netted by Nkana legend Ronald ‘Sate-Sate’ Kampamba back in 2013.
It will be interesting to see what Boyeli can do next season and whether he can again top the goalscorers chart.
In the last 12 years only Ronald Kampamba has managed to win the golden boot back to back in 2012 and 2013.
