Zambia under 23 national team begins their quest for a Tokyo 2020 Olympic spot today with a tight encounter against rivals South Africa.
Speaking at a pre-match briefing, Kv Oostende midfielder Emmanuel Banda expressed confidence going into the game.
“They is no match which I can say we are afraid of cause every game that comes is a different game and the South Africa game will be so, we will put in our best and try to win each game that we play.”
“The welcome here as been great, the people are friendly, the weather is good for football and the training pitch is great,” he said.
Zambia and South Africa consider they U23 teams as the golden generations and have been building them through every stage from the U20.
“We played this South African team at Cosafa U20 in 2016 and at the Afcon U20 semi-final in 2017 and we can say we know them pretty well and the games are always competitive.”
The top three at this tournament qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
