Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu has said government doesn’t owe the national team players any allowances.
And the minister has said they are working around the clock to secure money for the $5,000 qualifying bonus.
“As government, I wish to categorically state here that we do not owe the Chipolopolo players any allowances, we have paid the winning bonuses and camping bonuses already,” Nkandu has been quoted
“The only money yet to be settled is the $5,000 qualifying bonus which was only promised to them as a motivation but it is not written anywhere that we are entitled to pay them,” he added
“And because we promised to pay them, we are working around the clock to fulfill the promise even before Friday’s game against Congo Brazzaville at Levy Mwanawasa,” the Minister said
Zambia host Congo Brazaville on Friday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Four days later the Chipolopolo Boys will clash with Niger in Morocco on match day 2.
