David Kaunda Stadium contractor shocks Govt

Government has expressed disappointment over the poor construction of infrastructure at David Kaunda stadium in Chipata, Eastern province.

In an exclusive interview Sports Minister, Elvis Nkandu says it is now difficult for government to have confidence in local contractors when they deliver poor works such as the DK stadium.

He notes that government, through his ministry, pumped over six million kwacha in the rehabilitation of the stadium.

Nkandu adds that government will change management systems in all stadia in order to enhance good administration.

The DK Stadium is amongst the stadia rehabilitation program from World Football mother body FIFA and government.

Meanwhile, Nkandu has acknowledged that current rehabilitation works at both Levy Mwanawasa stadium and National Heroes Stadium was funded by government after the two stadia failed to reach CAF and FIFA standards

  1. Guys it’s not the contractor’s problem but the consultant. The consultant designs the project and inspects on behalf of the client to ensure the contractor is adhering to the design and specifications. In simple terms the contractors is given documents which carry the instructions of what is supposed to be done. So this is a case of GIGO.

  2. All we need now is a picture of some fish swimming in this…
    and then the contractors/ consultants / What what/ etc/ etc …

will say they thought the plans were for swimming pool-cum-stadium.
