Chipolopolo Boys coach Sven Vandenbroeck ‘expects a tight game’ against Mozambique in the Cameroon 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
The Belgian trainer has hinted that there will be a change of tactic from his side.
“I expect a tight game, I think both teams need to win but we will close (tighten) to not concede in the first 60 minutes. I think this will be more of a tactical waiting game,” he said.
Since he took over, the former Cameroon assistant coach has put much more emphasis on playing from the back and at times that has exposed the 2012 African Champions.
“It will be a tight game which I think will open up after an hour. So in the end it will balance anywhere so we need to focus for 95 minutes and perform every second of the game.”
While the Black Mambas picked up an impressive 4 points from the opening two matches, things have gone from bad to worse after they recorded back to back defeats against Namibia.
For Vandenbroeck, since he took over he has recorded only four points from a possible nine.
A defeat for Zambia in Maputo will signal the Copper bullets’ second successive African Cup of Nations absence.
Guinea Bissau and Namibia lead the pack on 7 points while Zambia and Mozambique are on 4 points.
Zambia has appeared at the nations Cup 16 times. It is arguably Southern Africa’s best record and comparable to the likes of Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Tunisia and Egypt on the continent

Agree with Farmer- Sven is another Mourinho- these are outdated strategies.
If you score Sven, don’t go defensive either look to score 3. Mozambique badly need to win so they are not going to sit back and wait for 2-3 hours
Zambia should not play mind football we are the best in the region Mozambique knows as well so we have to play our game Sven come attack and within 20min Zambia will score we know our team what they capable of go Zambia go…..
