Mwepu: We respect Villarreal but not afraid of them

Zambia national team midfielder Enock Mwepu says his Austrian Bundesliga side, Redbull Salzburg has respect for their opponents in tonight’s UEFA Europa League tie, Villarreal CF but they are not afraid of them.

Mwepu is expected to start in the middle of the park for Salzburg along with Zlatko Junuzovic, Masaka Okugawa, and Mohammed Camara.

Mwepu was also quick to acknowledge the huge statue of the Spanish La Liga side and their coach Unai Emery has won the competition three times (2013/14, 2014/15, and 2015/26 with Sevilla) and was also runner up once (2018/19 with Arsenal).

“It will be an extremely difficult match against a team who are right among the mix in one of the best leagues. They have a coach who has won this competition three times already. We have great respect for Villarreal, of course, but we are not afraid of them. We are going into this match with a lot of confidence and aiming to play our style of football and succeed,” Mwepu told Salzburg’s official website.

Mwepu and countrymate Patson Daka will be looking to help Salzburg as they host the Yellow Submarines at the Redbull Arena at 22:00 Central African time in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie.
