Polish-based winger Lubambo Musonda arrived in the country on Monday afternoon ahead of the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers against Algeria and Zimbabwe.
Musonda who spoke to FAZ media upon arrival says the team is just focused on a win.
“Well, we are just focused on a win, we have not given up on anything we are here to fight we have two more games and we have everything to fight for so we will give our best,” he said
Musonda has welcomed the new blood in the team and says it’s good for the development of the national team to have young players coming through.
Musonda was confident of coming to represent his country despite the travel restrictions that have been imposed in Europe due to the deadly Coronavirus epidemic.
“It’s important to build the team from the young ones I think they are well deserving they have to come up and play for the senior team they have to have the desire and the determination to fight and if they have that they can compete on the higher level,” he said.
“Due to the covid restrictions there was a doubt but we communicated with the club and they had to release us on time and come to participate for the national team.”
Lubambo has called on the fans to rally behind the team as they embark on this mammoth task of trying to pull a rabbit out of the hat and qualify for the AFCON tournament.
“To the fans, they just have to rally behind us we will give our best for the team we will work hard to ensure we give the best for the team,” he said.
The match against Algeria will be played on Thursday at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka at 21:00hours.
Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s side will wrap up the qualifiers with an away fixture against Zimbabwe on Monday next week.
