Zambia Women’s national team captain for the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship which has kicked off on Tuesday Grace Chanda says the team has targeted winning all games.
Chanda who takes up the armband in the absence of the skipper Barbra Banda, vice Misozi Zulu and third captain Hazel Nali has revealed that the morale in camp is high and the players are confident of winning against any team.
“Though we delayed entering camp some of us were playing league games the way we found the morale in camp it was very high and we enjoyed and even when we came here for the tournament the morale is still high and we feel we can win any game here because of the confidence we have,” she told the ZamFoot Crew.
“We will focus. Even in the game against eSwatini we just have to work hard all we want are the three points. We aim to win all the games so that we can reach the finals.”
Chanda who is the top goalscorer of the ongoing FAZ Women’s national league with 23 goals says the team will use the games to prepare for the Morocco 2022 Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The prolific striker has also urged fans to continue supporting the team.
“These games will help us prepare for the Afcon qualifiers. We are working hard because we know it will help us in future tournaments. Even though some players are not with us, they just have to work hard where ever they are so that it can be easy when they join,” she said.
“To our fans, they saw that we did well when we went to Tokyo so they also expect us to do well this time so we expect them to support us the more they support us the more we are going to do well.”
The Copper Queens will face Eswatini in the opening Group C match on 30 September and their penultimate fixture will be against Namibia three days later while their final group campaign is against tournament guests Uganda on 5 October.
