FC MUZA captain Kelvin Mwanza believes his team has what it takes to reach the finals of the Absa Cup for the second year running.
The Elegant Dynamites fell short in the 2023 final as Forest Rangers went on to win the title 2-0 at Woodlands stadium in Lusaka. This year, FC MUZA are on course to repeating the feat after they dispatched Chirundu United 3-0 in the round of 16.
“We are ready for the game. We have prepared well for the game and we shall give Power Dynamos a good run for the money. This is a (more like a) cup final and not the league. We respect Power but we are equal to the task,” Mwanza, who scored the opener in the win over Chirundu said.
“We are not intimidated and we will grab the bull by its horn. This is a game that we have been waiting for. We will apply ourselves in order to get the best result that will see us progress to the semi-finals.”
FC MUZA coach Mathews Ndhlovu said his team was ready to face Power Dynamos in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
“We respect the fixture itself and respect Power Dynamos, they are a good side and a seasoned team, but I think that at the stage we have reached, we are ready to learn and apply our potential. We expect an entertaining game,” Ndhlovu said.
“The difference is that this is a (Absa) Cup quarter final. This is a cup game, so one must win and one must go. So it about who has prepared well. The players know what is at stake and the result will tell the story at the end of the day.”
There has been no winner in the last three meetings between FC MUZA and Power Dynamos, and Saturday’s match promises to produce a sparkling result that will see the winner facing Indeni or Kabwe Warriors in the semi-finals of the Absa Cup 2024.
