Chipolopolo forward Albert Kangwanda has revealed that the Copper Bullets are eying a win over the Flames of Malawi tomorrow to set a tone for the 2023 COSAFA Championship.
The Red Arrows striker says the team is in Durban to defend the regional title.
“We are pushing as a team, working as one. We want to challenge and defend what belongs to us (The Cup),” he said.
“The message from the coaches has always been to stay focused , communicate amongst ourselves and to enjoy ourselves. We are here to defend the Cup so we know what we are here for.”
“The first game of the tournament is always important because it sets the morale as a team. Our first game against Malawi is a must win because it will bring a lot of confidence in the team so we are going for a win,” he added.
Kangwa also went to to reveal that the competition in the team is stiff with players needing to stay on their toes.
“The competition in the team is very high so you know you relax when someone comes in hence you always give your best,” Kangwanda said.
“Just like last time we came here to enjoy ourselves and in the end we came out victorious, we are here as Champions but we don’t have put a lot of pressure on ourselves, we just have to set a target and we are where we end.”
“The Message to the fans back home is to keep supporting us like you have always been and we will bring glory to our nation,” he added.
The Chipolopolo will tomorrow start their Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup title defence against the Flames of Malawi in a Group B clash set for King Zwelitini Stadium in Durban.
