The Zambian Super League and National First Division, NFD reached the half way stage over weekend.
The Week 17 results in both tiers are used as qualifications for the ABSA Cup with six coming from the Super League while other two are from the NFD.
With some Super League clubs like Red Arrows and Kafue Celtic hit with Covid-19 in their squads leading to some fixtures being postponed, the confirmation for the qualified teams has to wait.

So far log leaders, Green Buffaloes, Green Eagles, Nkana and Red Arrows have qualified.

Who joins from the Super League?
The tournament’s most successful club Zesco United can still qualify if they earn point against Prison Leopards in the their game in hand.
Zesco United have dominated ABSA Cup having won it six times(2007, 2008, 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2019). The first two titles were led by the partnership of the towering striker Enoch ‘Londole’ Sakala and Rainford Kalaba.

Two times winners Power Dynamos (2009 and 2011) and Nkwazi can qualify but results from the other games have to go their way.
Should Zesco United [suffer more a 3-0 defeat] and Kabwe Warriors loose their games in hand then both Nkwazi and Power Dynamos will book a place to the quarter finals of the ABSA Cup.

A win for Warriors and even a point for Zesco United will guarantee both sides a top six spot and subsequently an ABSA Cup slot.
Who will join Napsa Stars from NFD?
Either Kitwe United or Lumwana Radiants will join Napsa Stars in the ABSA Cup as the two representatives from the National First Division.
‘The Elite’ won’t defend their trophy
Holders Lusaka Dynamos won’t qualify as they are languishing in the drop zone with 15 points.

No e-Wallet for the bankers
Four times ABSA Cup finalists Zanaco [2010, 2016, 2017 and 2019] could be one of the biggest casualties to miss out.
The 2017 winners have a slim chance and have two win their two games by wider margins.
The bankers are on 19 points with -1 goal aggregate and should they record two wins then it will move them to 25 points, level with Zesco United, Nkwazi and Power Dynamos.
Kabwe Warriors have a 23 points with a game in hand.
