The Copper Queens have been drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Egypt and neighbors Malawi for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026.
This follows the draw that took place this afternoon at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.
Zambia will have a chance to avenge the five nil loss they suffered against the defending Champions, Nigeria at the quarter final stage of the 2024 WAFCON.
The 2022 WAFCON bronze medalists will also renew their rivalry with neighbors Malawi who they have faced a number of times in the regional competition, the COSAFA Cup.
This is Zambia’s fifth appearance at the tournament [2014, 2018, 2022, 2024 & 2026].
The Copper Queens’ best finish at the continental showpiece came in 2022 when they finished third after beating Nigeria 1-0.
Hosts Morocco will face Algeria, Senegal and Kenya while Group B sees South Africa face off with Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania.
Group D has Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
This edition of the tournament will double as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.The tournament will be played from 17 March-3 April 2026.
