WAFCON: Tunisia thrash debutants Togo

Tunisia sept aside Togo 4-1 in their Morocco 2022 CAF Women’s African Cup of Nations Group B opener in Cannes on Saturday.

Making their return since 2008, the Carthage ladies made their intentions known with a quick start against the West Africans.

Star player Maryam Hawij scored the fastest goal of the tournament as she gave Tunisia a 1-0 lead in the first minute.

Sabreen Al-Louzi made it 2-0 in the 12th minute before Togo pulled one back in the 23rd minute.

Tunisia coach Samir Al-Andelsi got a relief on the hour mark after Sabreen Al-Louzi grabbed his brace to make it 3-1.

Player of the match Maryam Hawij wrapped it up with a fine goal in the 71st minute as Tunisia collected maximum points.

On Wednesday, the North Africans will face a stern test against Zambia while Cameroon will play Togo.

Tunisia currently lead the group on three points while Zambia and Cameroon have a point each.
