Wada calls Alex Ngonga to beef up Chipolopolo attack

Chipolopolo coach Wedson (Wada Wada) Nyirenda has recalled in form striker Alex Ngonga to the national team to beef up his strike force.

The Power Dynamos front man who only returned to Zambia this season after a stint in Gabon where he won the league with CF Mounana is expected to be part of the national team training on Wednesday.

Ngonga has been in fine form since his return to Arthur Davies Stadium scoring three times in four games.

With prolific striker Brian Mwila out of the CHAN squad after he signed for South African side Platinum Stars, Nyirenda saw his side fail to convert numerous chances against a hapless Ethiopian side.

Dave Daka and Martin Phiri who were expected to fill into the shoes of Mwila both failed to impress and Ngonga is expected to claim a spot in the team.

The 25 year old last played for the Chipolopolo on 29th March, 2015 when he replaced Bornwell Mwape in Zambia’s 2 – 0 win over Rwanda at Heroes Stadium in an international friendly match.

The Chipolopolo returned to training on Monday ahead of their trip to South Africa where they will play Bafana Bafana in the first leg of the the Kenya 2018 CHAN final round qualifier on Saturday 12th August.
