Zambia U23 national football team physician Dr. Mwila Lupasha has played down concerns over the fitness of Ronald Kampamba and Patrick Ngoma both of whom were substituted in Zambia’s 2 – 1 loss to Tunisia.
Dr. Lupasha told fazfootball.com that both players experienced pain on their right legs and had to be replaced as a matter of precaution.
Ngoma was stretchered off in the 23rd minute and was replaced two minutes later by John Chingandu while Kampamba was replaced by Friday Samu in the 48th minute.
Dr. Lupasha said Patrick’s fitness would be assessed over a period of 72hrs, meaning that he would not be fully recovered in time to face South Africa on Tuesday.
“Kampamba did not suffer any injury; he just experienced some pain on his right leg. It could have been caused by fatigue but generally he is in good condition. He is most likely to be selected for the next match subject to how he performs in training,” said Dr Lupasha.
“As for Patrick, he was taken to hospital at half time because I suspected that he had a fracture because he was limping when we tried to assess him.
“After being taken to hospital it was discovered that he wasn’t fractured. He had what we call a soft tissue injury and then he was put in a splint which is not a PoP but looks like one. The splint is to prevent excessive pain because the injury which he sustained is quite a painful one.
“We shall monitor his progress and see how he does in the next 48/72hrs. Otherwise he is fine; he does not have a fracture so we are managing him with painkillers and seeing to it that the limb is not swollen.”

Ok boys … let’s do it. Zambia!
Hope these boys recover for the game against RSA. I was surprised at players like Jack Chirwa and Friday Samu the guy that replaced Sate Sate. Chirwa could not pass the ball and let alone control the ball. No skill like we know Zambian players. Yaba! Samu his finishing was like a novice. Don’t we have better players on the bench who can do better than these lads.
Toaster Tsabata to me did well. He saved about 2 clear goals from the Tunisians all we saying is the cross that led to the second goal. Can’t fault keeper alone. Where were the defenders that allowed the Tunisian striker to head in the goal.
The Tunisian team was there for the taking nothing special about the team. At one time we pushed them and we could not finish off the chances we had. S.Sautu,Ngoma and Sate Sate stood out for me upfront and the boys at the back also played well like K.Kayame, B.Sakala, Chipeshi.
Technical team need to make some inspiring subs also.
Warning to my fellow Zambians. The RSA team is very good. Don’t be fooled by the 3-1 bashing the got from Senegal. The have an extremely talented side. Their midfield is there strength abena J.Chirwa will be made to dance around. Be warned!!
I saw the highlights. poor defending by Zambia. and that second goal, I wonder wat toaster was thinking off???
AUBREY should start South Africa game. This is one game all our best players should play. get me right best players not potential players for sell, knowing the good market for our players in South Africa.
Caf U23 Update
Egypt 1-1 Algeria Fulltime
Mali 0-3 Nigeria Halftime
I hope Zambia will really up their game against RSA and Senegal.,……hard but not impossible.
Zambia can still take the second spot from thier group. Well I will be happy if they do bcos my darling Dream team VI from Nigeria will be happy to seriously molest the U23 chipolopolo. Nigeria will top group B.
I like your sane comments. I really enjoy your comments bro.
Toaster is a useless goal keeper who was exposed against Japan. Kalusha will continue selecting his players and marketing them if I didn’t protest Patrick ngoma would not have been included.
Mali 2 vs 3 Nigeria 80 mins
can’t believe this…. Dream team defend that 1 goal lead… Please
F-15 Despite that mistake by Toaster if you watched the entire game you would have seen that he accounted himself well. We saved clear goals at one time.
CAF u23
Egypt 1-1 Algeria FT
Mali 2-3 Nigeria FT
without ngoma and sate sate the boys are definitely out we should not expect miracles. on the bench there is no depth.you cant try combinations at this stage.obby chirwa, luchanga and novice samu they never played together and non of them is capable to lead the strike force. fielding them it will be an act of desperation.joke of the year.
Toaster Nsabata should learn how to organise his defence. We also lack creativity in midfield because the coach prefers two holding midfielders. Upfront only Sate Sate has a knack for goals. Boyd and Jack must pull up their socks. On Friday Samu let me not say anything.
I hope Chirwa starts the SA game the guy has fighting spirit. also let the coach re-organise the midfield
Im i the only who saw that chepeshi was leaking crosses on the right? Composure and lack of confidence also killed us in the Tunisia game especially after 2 of the 3 players that were confident came off due to injury
I was told off and insulted when i said that the small boys will be beaten by Tunisia. I have been vindicated again like always. They small boys are only there to make up the numbers. They will be booted out of the tournament soon!
Mmmmm but without ngoma he is the only one with courage no words sate sate is proving he has the head to think, but mkandawire nd chipeshi i doult nd our team is full of defenders srikers are blant we re going no were, we ve a team that can play but not to win
I do NOT see this team beating SouthAfrica simply becoz of the weak front-line
Let’s not just criticize, gentlemen. When did Toaster last play in a competitive game? Is he not the same Toaster who performed miracles during the COSAFA Senior Challenge games when Zambia ended up lifting the trophy? I think the guy stayed for quite some time without playing. Remember those games when he was benched at the expense of Mweene who ended up making some silly mistakes.
