The Zambia U-20 Women’s National Team are off to Lilongwe ahead of Saturday’s Costa Rica 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup second round second leg Qualifier match against Malawi
The Young Copper Queens will be going into the return match in a buoyant mood carrying a comfortable 6-0 victory from the reverse fixture over the Young Scorchers played a fortnight ago at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.
Malawi needs to overturn the 6-0 defeat to stand a chance of qualifying to the next round where Ghana is patiently waiting having booked a spot because their opponents Mauritania pulled out of the race.
Skipper Evarine Susan Katongo leads the 20 member squad for the trip alongside striker Enelesi Phiri who netted a hat-trick in the first leg.
Precious Phiri, Matilda Beauty Zulu, Florence Kasonde, and Ruth Ngoma have all failed to make the trip while Thelma Phiri has been ruled out of the trip by an injury.
The match is slated for Bingu National Stadium with kick-off set at 15:00hrs on Saturday.
