U-20 AFCON: Zambia face Tunisia in must win encounter

The Zambia U-20 national team will be aiming to redeem themselves when they take on Tunisia in their final Group game at the ongoing Egypt 2023 U-20 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

The Young Copper Bullets were held to a 1-1 draw by Benin before losing 2-0 to Gambia on Match day two.

Chisi Mbewe’s side need to collect maximum points this evening to retain any chance of qualifying to the knockout stage.

The gaffer is expected to tinker around with his chess pieces to give himself the best possible chance of getting a win.

Charles Majapa Mumba and Chipyoka Songa dropped to the bench in the last game but could return to the starting line up.

Jeban Tembo is again expected to start between the sticks ahead of Levison Banda and Eric Makungu.

Lombe Mutale, Amon Chulu, Happy Nsiku and Gift Mphande are again expected to make up the back four.

In Midfield skipper Dominic Kanda Kanda is likely to lead the team with options in Majapa, Julius Kumwenda, Lasmond Phiri, Songa and Emmanuel Mukosha as those that could partner him.

Upfront Mbewe will look to  Peter Chikola for pace, and extra creativity with options in Derrick Bulaya, Rickson Ng’ambi, Kingston Mutandwa and Moses Mulenga to lead the line.

Kickoff is at 19:00 hours (Zambian Time) with the game live on SuperSport and TopStar.

  1. These boys should come home fast before they disgrace us more. That technical bench should be fired without hesitation. They have wasted our tax payer’s money. Advertising players from Lusaka academies at the expense of national glory. That technical bench is full of time wasters and clueless selfish characters…

    • @Chindika Popeye Nguni. You have hit the nail on the head, I could not believe how poorly the boys were playing. Even bachipante pante could have done something meaningful. Unless a miracle happens, if the technical bench is going to employ the same tactics Tunisia will unleash a terrible Tsunami. At one time I thought maybe Boniface Mwamelo was on the technical bench.
