Zambia U23 national team winger Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya’s Swedish club Djurgadens IF was Yesterday crowned as the Swedish Allsvenskan Champions following a 2-2 draw away at Norrköping.
Djurgadens finished the season with 66 points, One above record 23- time Champions Malmö FF in second place, Meaning Chilufya and his teammates will play the UEFA Champions League next season.
Chilufya was an unused substitute in the match on Saturday but has played in nine of the 30 games Djurgadens have played this season and was on target once. The league is Chilufya’s first but it’s his second major trophy in Sweden having won the Svenska Cupen cup last year.
The Mphande Youth Academy product will now travel to Egypt to join his Bola na Lesa teammates for the U23 AFCON tournament which kicks off on Friday, November 8th.
Zambia is in group B alongside defending Champions, Nigeria, South Africa, and Ivory Coast. Zambia will start its campaign on Saturday against South Africa.
