CAN 1986 Alexandria Egypt
Zambia 0 – 0 Algeria
Derby Makinka in action against Algeria.
Zim Bullet
Darling Tonados better known as D T..This is the team that Derby Makinka played for. He played for that team whilst waiting t o join a Saudi Arabian team. Highlanders vs D T. I have spotted a Zambia international wearing jersey no. 4 its Derby Makinka on the ball he dribbled a cluster of defenders and he pushed the ball into the empty net.
Since his departure Zimbabweans they are a midfielder of his class. He played only eight games and he was one of the soccer star of the year. The following year a new rule was passed. A player does not feature for more than half of the league game will not be considered for soccer stars selection. The late Derby was one of the boys who feature for the best ever Zambian national team which was viewed by many as favourites to win world cup for Africa.
Bolashax –
The best defensive midfielder ever! Strong, skilled, tireless with hard accurate shot. Stuck with profund warriors through division one and made them regain promotion. What service!
He joined Dynamos of Zimbabwe halfway d season and became player of the year. He scored a cracker against Tunisia few metres from d centre circle to hand Zambia 1 goal win.
Derby Maninka…the best number 6 ever!
the team..iss…..Algeria! nde sata fye ka
Looks like Derby Mankinka
Definitely Derby Makinka. Definitely Algeria. Can’t make-out the game though.
Indeed Derby Makinka, Zambia vs Algeria.
Derby Makinka surely…RIP! Could single-handedly change the team’s fortunes during a game. His style was simple and straight forward but always incredibly efficient. He was to Zambia what Steve Gerard was to Liverpool….Mr Reliable….Only difference God took him too soon!
Profound Warriors and Zambia
Sir stalemate, but Charles and Willie “Amalume” Phiri both feature my best eleven ever. Jani wasn’t called Minister of midfield for nothing. Derby I liked first game I saw him Zambia 2 Malawi 2 at Independence and man of the match was Malawan midfielder Kennedy Malunga who destoyed our midfield entire 90mins, but young Derby still showed his mettle. Best defensive midfielder ever another stalemate as the likes of Jericho “Russian” Tanker and Evans “Gerd Muller” Katebe etc were midfielders par excellence-enough said!
The Tanker himself Derby Makinka
that was CAN 1986
The best defensive midfielder ever! Strong, skilled, tireless with hard accurate shot. Stuck with profund warriors through division one and made them regain promotion. What service!
Which was a Better Midfield Combination, Derby Makinka and Charles Musonda or Willie Phiri and Jani Simulambo ?
I was still a baby that time so I don’t know him I always hear his name here I’m happy that I have seen his picture its like he was a good midfilder.
Its amazing that even now when in Zimbabwe talking about legendary players in the Zimbabwean league they still his name. Derby Makinka was as solid as they can ever come.
Nathan Sinkala TP Mazembe Vrs USM Algiers
Yes the guy in the Green jersey is Nathan Sinkala…
Gentlemen, I seem to like that jersey donned by Derby Makinka. That team was solid; there was quality all round. Even when you watched these guys in the league, it was evident they were a bar above their friends. Bali abakali
Is this the game we lost at home to Algeria 0-1 and which the late Denis liwewe when doing commentaries went like “we attacked and attacked but we did’nt score, they counter attacked and they scored,Bensoulla has made it 1 nil,we are not ashamed,we are not disgraced”
No idea all i kno is that its Zambia vs a team in a green jersey.
Mambwe kwena…
Derby Makinka no doubt!!!!!
Off topic: I’m requesting Zamfoot to do an opinion poll on Chipolopolo second choice goal keeper. So much debate has been going on. When Mweene was injure in Sudan, I wasn’t sure who would come in and it appears even the coach was not sure as evidenced by the two goal keepers warming up. Jacob Banda, Danny Munyau, Toaster Nsabata. Who fits the bill?
I like that idea
I like it too.
The guy looks physically fit and the stature is surely of a footballer Derby makinka and Zambia.Nomba kuwayawaya fye.

they are yet to see
Let’s not get carried too carried away as we eulogise about our departed heroes ba Zim bullet. Zambia winning the first African World Cup is a new invention from you. Don’t get me wrong, we hard a whole lot better crop of players than the current crop of Nsabatas and Sate Sates. However, we always struggled against North Africans and some West Africans.
well
