Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says the postponement of the June round of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers is a setback for his troops that had been raring to go.
Micho told the FAZ media that his technical bench was hard at work with three international friendly matches lined up before the June 6 away clash to Mauritania.
“This decision is a setback for Chipolopolo and FAZ as we have done preparations that were reaching advanced stages of playing three international friendly matches as matter of checking operational levels of our individual players and whole team prior of playing away in Noudibhou Mauritania against Mourabitounes team and later taking on Tunisia in Ndola, but it was not meant to be,” he said.
Micho said his team has a back up plan for the revised dates that will be rolled out in due course.
“We are having a reserve program with possible International friendly matches that will keep momentum of our team intact making us ready for the challenges ahead of us in September World cup qualifiers.”
CAF has announced that the back-to-back qualifiers that were scheduled to take place in June have been moved to September due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Zambia is in Group B alongside Tunisia, Mauritania, and Equatorial Guinea.

He should be happy, he now has more time to look for defenders
It has given u an opportunity to look for defenders in Europe….U tok too much concentrat on your job only
Mentally,physically and technically the team is not ready. They need time to recover from that disaster. Its a blessing in disguise for chipolopolo. Qualification its now based on certain condition. Faz need to consult the legends. Obvious kalu holds the key of qualification. Its now time to bury our differences and work together for betterment of our football. Since the departure of kalu zambia is yet to qualify. The future continue to look bleak. The current leadership is clueless . They are working without a system. When the zambian football collapsed kalu came to rescue and went on to win a trophy for us. King kalu has done everything to help zambia as far football is concerned. Zambian football without kalu its a hopeless endavour. Remember when 2011 when people were celebrating qualification kalu took the whole nation by surprise and fired coach and brought renard . Zambia went on to win afcon. He also told the entire nation that no zambian coach is ready to coach chipolopolo. He remains the one and only. Kamanga did not suspend kalu he suspended zambian football. These are my last words zambia need a miracle to qualify to world cup. Long live king kalu the one only
Mash you suffer from paranoia! Exaggerating this and exaggerating that you have no fun. KALU is the past, just like KK. Zambia keeps going on.
@Slim
Very true
They can move on failing to qualify three times.. Reverse gear
