The Airmen’s steady progress

Red Arrows football club has had steady progress in the recent weeks with four wins from their last 6 games which has pushed the Airmen closer to their target of top 4.

Red Arrows made big decisions at the start of the season releasing senior players and sending club captain Bruce Musakanya on loan to Zesco United. The decision by the football club was seen as the best way for both the club and the players to progress, but the decision seemed to have backfired after a poor start to the season by the ZAF sponsored outfit. Certain sections of fans started calling for the club to sack coach Chisi Mbewe.

The football club has always seen Mbewe as the right man to take the club forward. Red Arrows biggest Challenge was finishing the chances they created and allowing too many goals in the second half of games.

A 1-1 draw against ZANACO in a week seemed to have been the turning point for the Airmen who have won 4 games from 6 and has pushed the Airmen away from the relegation zone and are now in the conversation for a CAF slot

The clubs’ first target of the season was to qualify for the ABSA cup which the club failed to achieve missing out on ABSA cup again for the 7th time in a row since winning it in 2013.

The club’s main target of the season was to qualify for continental football which looks achievable now after putting up a good run in the second round, the Airmen are the third most in-form team in the super league behind Zesco United and Power Dynamos.

A victory on Sunday against local rivals Nkwazi will be enough to send the Airmen into the top four places. The club will look to James Chamanga and inform Alidor Kayemba to inspire the Airmen to victory and close in on continental football.

Youngsters Alassane Diarra, Mwiza Siwale, Prosper Chiluya, and Crispin Sakulanda have also made a great contribution to the club this season and if they can be consistent there is no telling how far this Airmen side will go.
