New Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroek says he is excited about the challenge of overseeing the remainder of Zambia’s Cameroon 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
And FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said Vandenbroek would immediately get down to work.
Addressing an impromptu press briefing after journalists had followed him to Football House after his arrival, Vandenbroek said he was looking forward to meeting the players and coaches as he settles.
“I think it is a lovely journey in front of us and we are going to make the best of it,” Vandenbroek said.
“I am looking forward to the five games program that we have. It will be tough but I think we can make it, we have to make it.”
He added: “I am looking forward to knowing everybody, the players, the coaches and everybody around in the technical committee.”
Kamanga announced that the Belgian would be meeting local coaches in the next few days to acquaint himself with his new environs.
“The coach is here and we are very happy that finally we have got a coach. He will get to work immediately in the next coming days but officially he will have a program with the media on Tuesday at 10 hours,” he said.
“On behalf of FAZ I am very happy that we have got a coach, it has taken a bit of time but we should be able to get working almost immediately. We have a very tight one week program.”

Let him assess Frankie musonda in england as well as a possible partner to Sunzu in defense
John is it you, that long gone one if so welcome back mate
Welcome back john
Ok!!!?
The problem have with soccer administrators in Zambia is that they lack vision or they have a narrow vision. You hire a coach to take you to the 2019 Africa cup instead of focusing on the 2022 world cup, and the way you selected a coach you look at one who has been there. Look at belgium they picked henry to be the second coach on the bench because the man is a world cup winner.
Kkkkkkk I’m also Happy to see John again but….. The guy is…. Anyway welcome Sven hope we make it to 2019 Afcon after that then the world cup comes in. Ifintu nipanono.
The time span he is given is in my opinion too short. He needed time to know the players, otherwise he has to work with the existing cadre and adjust and adapt. Welcome and Wish you the Best.
