Congolese based striker Winstone Kalengo gave Zambia the lead at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium against Congo in the African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Ironically, Kalengo campaigns his trade in that country and they gave him a ‘ride’ as he came with them to Ndola on their chartered plane.
This was Kalengo’s 7 international goal in the last 12 month and add that to the 18 league goals he scored last season for Zesco United plus the 10 goals he has already grabbed for AC Leopards since joining them.
It is now 35 goals (add another goal from the 2015 Charity Shield match against Nkana) in 12-14 months and only Collins Mbesuma’s 42 goals in the 2004/05 season for Kaizer Chiefs and Zambia can match that feat for any Zambian striker in the modern era.
Below is how the Chipolopolo faithful reacted to Kalengo’s goal and follow us on @Zambianfootball on twitter and hashtag Zamfoot

This guy is a real goalscorer. All he needs is to have the goal in front of him and you’re in trouble. If the midfield can only feed him the ball in the right areas on the field.
We need creative midfielders to help kalengo. He is a deadly striker. I was disapointed with lubambo musonda, he z good going foward bt fails to create acurate passes.
We need chisamba lungu to help kalengo
I fail to understand Kalengo he does’nt ly dribbling but score gud goals.
Time for practicing set pieces and positioning is what is lacking pa zed .
That was a great goal… Kalengo has been the missing link up front. But we need to bring back mayuka to partner him and mbesuma just behind the two, believe me that will be deadly. All the best chipolopolo in Congo.
