So close but yet so far away: Away goals rule relegates Eagles to CAF Confed Cup

Green Eagles have been relegated to CAF Confederation Cup after failing short on away goals rule following a one-nil away win in Angola.

The Kawale boys went into their CAF Champions League pre-group stage second leg tie against Primeiro De Agosto of Angola on the back of a 2-1 home defeat in the first leg hence needing a two-nil win to progress to the group stage.

Tapson Kaseba scored the only goal of the game in a match the Choma based outfit dominated but it was not enough as Agosto progressed to the group stage on away goals rule.

Eagles will be paired with one a team that qualified to the playoff for a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. The draw for the two competitions will be held on Wednesday, 9 October 2019, at the Hilton Pyramids Resort (6th October City) at 19H00 local time (17H00 GMT).
