Sinkala, Kalaba help Mazembe reach CAF Confederation Cup group stage

TP Mazembe sailed to the group stage of the 2016 CAF Champions league on away goals despite losing 2 – 1 away against Stade Gabisien in Tunisia on Tuesday evening.

The Congo giants named Nathan Sinkala and Rainford Kalaba in the starting with Kabaso Chongo on the bench as they carried a 1 – 0 lead from home.

They unfortunately fell behind in the 28th minute through a Youssef FOUZHI goal.

They seemed to be heading out of the competition when Ahmed Hosni scored a second in the 75th minute but they scored the all important away goal in the 70th minute through Wonder Bope.

Bope then received a red card 6 minutes later for retaliation.

Gabisien failed to utilize their chances in the final minutes as Mazembe held on for a spot in the group stage of the competition.

Sinkala played the entire game while Kalaba was substituted in the 53rd minute.

Mazembe have struggled for form and have only won once in the last five games.

They now await the draw for the group stage which will be held next week on 24th May, 2016.
