Lawrence Mulenga leads Sichone’s 30 member squad for Cosafa

New Chipolopolo number one, Lawrence Mulenga headlines the Chipolopolo 30 member squad summoned for the upcoming COSAFA senior men’s Championship.

Mulenga put up a man of the match performance for the Copper Bullets who thrashed Ivory Coast 3-0 in the penultimate round of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

The Power Dynamos is expected to be the man between the sticks as Zambia starts their COSAFA Cup title defence next month.

Chipolopolo assistant Coach Moses Sichone has named a 30 member squad for the tournament.

The former Nchanga Rangers and Chipolopolo defender has named a combination of experience and youth in his squad for the 26th edition of the COSAFA Cup.

Sichone, who will lead the defending champions at the The Chipolopolo will enter camp on Monday in Lusaka as they plot their title defence.

Zambia under-17 20232 AFCON forward Emmanuel Mwanza, Atletico Lusaka Forward Kingston Mutandwa, Gift Mphande among the youngsters summoned.

Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Kelvin Kapumbu, Dominic Chanda, Jack Chirwa bring the experience to the squad with Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale, Golden Mashata, Fredrick Mulambia, and Albert Kangwanda also named in the team.

Zambia will be using the tournament as a preparatory venture for the July month end African Nations Championship qualifier.

Zambia is in Group B and will open its account on July 6 against the Flames of Malawi before facing Comoros three days later.

The final group match will be against Seychelles on July 11 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
