Super League side, Nakambala Leopards nveiled their new head coach Zeddy Saileti and his assistant Linos Makwaza on Tuesday, December 18th in Mazabuka.
The hot topic from North Western is not whether Saileti and Makwaza are the right people to take the Club forward unfortunately. The topic is on the two photos that have surfaced from the unveiling of the two coaches. Saileti and Makwaza were unveiled in what looks like a Maize field to the surprise of everyone.
The two photos have set social media ablaze especially among Zambian football fans who are wondering just what Nakambala was thinking?. Well such is never the case in Europe and people wonder why they are always ahead.
On 6th July 2009, Real Madrid unveiled a new player to the world, in front of 80,000 fans at the Bernabéu. The Portuguese winger,Cristiano Ronaldo, wearing the No9 jersey once worn by the Madrid great Alfredo di Stefano, was greeted rapturously by the packed stadium.
Supporters had been queuing outside the Bernabéu for much of the day in order to gain access to the brief ceremony. Well Nakambala unveiling the former Nkana striker and coach Saileti and Linos Makwaza could have not attracted that huge number of fans but they could have had a small event with their loyal fans present.
One wonders why they did not try to even hold the unveiling ceremony in a board room. For a club that has its own stadium it would have made more sense to actually hold a small unveiling event at Nakambala Stadium.
A club like Nakambala with good sponsorship can afford to hold such a small event. It seems very insignificant but it’s very important on the image of the club. How will the world view the Sugar boys now after this incident?.
The Club needs to be serious in matters to do with the image of the club. A media office would come in handy to help promote the image of the club but Nakambala sadly doesn’t have one And it is a requirement of club licensing.
Nakambala will have to do alot of work to redeem themselves and create a better image for themselves because as they say Image is everything.
A number of Clubs have done a lot of good work regarding turning fully professional but such pictures are taking the Zambian league 10 steps backward and it’s the hope of all soccer loving Zambians that such does not repeat itself.

The bottom line is that are the candidates chosen capable to improve the field line of Nakambala?
Comparing the unveiling in Europe & Zambia in a magnificent arena won’t bring results.
Gidza, u r indeed a gizmo! Don’t tell me the officials who did the unveiling have no other palatable place to do this exercise. What we r saying ” clean in Europe” should be the same in Africa. Cos we r here cannot stop the officials organise the unveiling in the stadium?! Unless we change our situation will remain the same, in the pits.
