Several Chipolopolo stars expected in action today

A number of Zambian players based outside the country will be in action today as various leagues across the globe swing into action. 

Chipolopolo skipper Enock Mwepu headlines the list of the players expected in action today. 

England

Enock Mwepu is expected in action as Graham Potter’s team look to make it back-to-back Premier League victories when they take on Newcastle United at the American Express Community Stadium. 

The Seagulls are hoping to build on the stunning 2-1 win at Old Trafford last Sunday.

Mwepu came off the bench against Manchester United replacing Adam Lallana in the 76th minute but could make his first start of the season today. 

Albion have never lost a home Premier League game against Newcastle in five previous meetings (W2 D3), only facing West Ham as often without losing at the Amex Stadium in the competition.

Elsewhere, Striker Patson Daka is expected to be in action as Leicester City look to secure their first win of the 2022/2023 English Premier League season.

The Foxes visit  Emirates Stadium this afternoon tackling an Arsenal side intent on challenging at the very top of the table.

 Leicester have a solitary point to their name after last weekend’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Brentford, while a win at Crystal Palace gives the Gunners three.

Daka, who had a fantastic preseason came off the bench last weekend replacing Kieran Drewsbury Hall in the 73rd minute.

Scotland

Out of favor Fashion Sakala and his Rangers FC teammates host St Johnstone at Ibrox in their third round of the Scottish Premiership.

Sakala will be looking to make his first appearance of the season having last played in the 3-1 friendly match win over West Ham last month. 

Sakala seems to not be among Giovanni Van Brockhorst’s favorite players at the moment but the gaffer could be compelled to give him a run out with Champions League football in midweek in a bid to rest the likes of the Buffalo Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

In the Championship, Centre back Frankie Chisenga Musonda is expected to continue at the heart of defense for AYR who host Hamilton at the Somerset Park. 

Musonda has been putting in full shifts after his switch to AYR. 

In Serbia 

Midfield ace Klings Kangwa is expected to continue his good form when Red Star Belgrade host FK Vozdovac in a Serbian Super League tie. 

Kangwa has already scored three goals and assisted three in the six games he has played in all Competitions so far.

Kangwa was also the scorer of the club’s best two goals in the month of July. The Zambian is already a fan favorite in Serbia.

South Africa

Former Power Dynamos midfielder Rally Bwalya is expected in action as Amazulu host Cape Town City at the Princess Magogo Stadium at 20:00hrs. 

Elsewhere goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata and Rodrick Kabwe are expected in action for Sekhukhune United who visit Richards Bay at 17:30. 

In Italy 

US Lecce host Internazzionale ( Inter- Milan) but Chipolopolo wing wizard Lameck Banda misses out as he is yet to start training with the team. 

Banda completed his switch to the Serie A side early this week penning a four year deal to make him the first Zambian to sign for a team in the Italian top flight.
