Sakala Brace Fires Al Fayha to Dramatic 3–2 Victory Over Al Taawon

Chipolopolo forward Fashion Sakala continued his red-hot form in the Saudi Pro League, scoring a decisive brace to inspire Al Fayha FC to a thrilling 3–2 away victory over Al Taawoun FC.

The Zambian international delivered when it mattered most, striking in the 89th minute to seal all three points after a dramatic second-half turnaround by the hosts.

Al Fayha took the lead just before halftime through Algerian international Yassine Benzia, who curled in a beautifully executed free kick to give the visitors a deserved advantage at the break.

Sakala doubled the lead seven minutes into the second half. A pinpoint cross from Mohammed Al Baqawi in the 52nd minute found the striker unmarked at the far post, and he responded with a thunderous left-footed volley to make it 2–0.

However, Al Taawoun mounted a spirited comeback. Goals in quick succession from Roger Martínez and Mohammed Al Dossari restored parity, setting up a tense finale.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Sakala rose to the occasion. Meeting Sabri Dahal’s cross in the 89th minute, the forward clinically finished to complete his brace and snatch a dramatic winner for Al Fayha.

The victory lifts Al Fayha to 10th place on the league table as they turn their attention to a home fixture against Neom SC in five days’ time.

Sakala’s rich vein of form continues to gather momentum. He now has 10 goals in 20 league appearances this season — with eight of those strikes coming in his last eight matches. The forward also boasts three assists, taking his total goal contributions to 13 and moving him into a tie for 11th place in the league’s scoring charts.

  1. Poor Chipolopolo will never benefit from them because it appears national duty does not reward as much as their clubs do. Patriotism ! Patriotism! Means nothing in our current crop of players. Individualism matters more that the collective team, hence we are poor at national level. You shall notice that as soon as national duty calls someone will have an injury.
