GOALKEEPER Chris Changufu was the fall guy yesterday as Maramba Stars suffered their third defeat in there last five games, losing 2-1 to Kalomo Jetters in a match played at St Repheals School Grounds on Saturday.

Visitors Kalomo jetters settled first and controlled the game in the opening minutes of the tie more like they were playing at home. The hosts’ first meaningful chance came on the 20th minute mark when Charles Chewe failed to direct his effort on target following a great delivery from Lemmy.

Both teams wasted several opportunities in the first half, but it was Stars who almost scored towards the half time as a moment of brilliance was in play when Joshua madala beat Kalomo defenders and only to be denied by the keeper who may have handled the players leg instead of the ball which resulted in a penalty.

Skipper Chibesa Change took charge of the penalty in the 40th minute just to be denied by the post and cleared from close range.

Second half jetters come back and took control of the game from were they left it from and Robert “Nawela Sate sate” Chalwe broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when his beautiful taken freekick was well struck into the net to put the visitors in the lead after goalkeeper Changufu mistakenly misjudged and underated the shot.

The advantage, however, was short-lived as Stars restored parity 19minutes later in the 68th minute through substitute josphart who received a nice pass from Charles chewe, beat Kalomo Jetters defenders and the charging goalkeeper to slot it in an empty net.The game became a tense one as cards become the order of the game but Jetters continued to press more and more.

In the twist of events the goalkeeper Chris again was in the lime light as he failed to handle the ball and Robert Chalwe made a quick reaction and sloted it in an empty net in the 72nd minute to make it 2-1 with his second of the match.

Jetters could have had a penalty as Chibesa handled in the box but it was waved away and they could have scored a third towards the end of the game, but the woodwork came to the rescue of Maramba.

The match ended 2-1
