The Copper Queens were held to a goalless draw on Sunday morning by the FAZ Women’s League select side.
Coach Bruce Mwape was using the game as part of preparation for the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco in July.
The game played at Edwin Imboela Stadium saw the likes Maweta Glory Chilenga, Pauline Zulu, Maiwase Square and Mary Mambwe go head to head with Evarine Susan Katongo, Natasha Nanyangwe, Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and co.
Zambia Women’s National Team is among the 12 countries that qualified for the biggest African women’s showpiece which is the 12th Edition and it is the first time feature 12 teams (compared to 8 teams in previous tournaments) competing at the tournament which was supposed to be played last year but postponed to 2-23 July 2023 owing to the outbreak of Covid-19.
The Confederation of African football will conduct draws for the 2022 AWCON in Morocco on 29th April.
The Copper Queens who will be appearing for the third time dating way back in 1995 are in Pot 2 alongside old-timers Cameroon who have qualified for all the 12 editions of the tournament since it was officially recognized in 1998 and debutants Burundi.
Zambia is guaranteed to face either South Africa, Nigeria or hosts Morocco who are seeded for the draw.

The 2022 Morocco Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will take place between 2nd and 23rd July, 2022.
The top 4 teams will qualify to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
