ROAD TO CROATIA: U15 JET IN ZAGREB

The Zambia Under-15 national team has arrived in Croatia to take part in the second edition of the “Vlatko Markovic” eight team invitational tournament.

Before arriving in the country’s capital, Zagreb, the team spent two days training in Egypt under the watchful eyes of head coach Chisi Mbewe and his assistant Aaron Kawangu.

The sessions were held at the Guard Arena situated along El Saaqah Street in the historical Heliopolis city, originally referred to as the ‘garden city’ as early as the 20th century.

Chipolopolo coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic and his local assistant Oswald Mutapa also kept tabs on the players’ readiness for the tournament.

Mbewe said shortly after arrival at the Franjo Tudman Airport that his team had done all the homework both in Zambia and Egypt and were ready for the opener against North Macedonia on Wednesday.

The coach also explained that the friendly match against Zamalek could not take place due to the club’s technicalities on COVID-19 protocols.

This is the first time Zambia is taking part in an international tournament for boys at Under-15 level, and Mbewe rallies his boys to leave a good impression.

The matches will be played behind closed doors.
