Zambia Women’s Super League Zone A and B Select sides played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon in a friendly match at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.
Queens Academy prolific goalpoacher Lillian Mwaba stole the show in the first half by scoring a brace for Zone B. Mwaba benefitted from a mix up at the back to put Zone B ahead in the 25th minute.
Zone A had a chance to level matters in the 35th minute after Indeni tricky winger Norin Betani was brought down in the box but Green Buffaloes WFC captain Joana Benaya missed the spot kick.
Mwaba double the lead a minute before half time after a brilliant run into the box before slotting home with easy, 2-0 the match went to the break.
After the break, Zone A cameback more organized and it is was Mufulira Wanderers striker Regina Kayamboma who rose to the occasion with a remarkable brace with one of the goals coming through from a penalty spot to make it 2-2 after Loveness Tonge brought down Thandiwe Ndhlovu, Serah Selemani sent Tinge for an early shower, Kayamboma stepped up and scored.
The Mufulira Wanderers Queens forward was again on hand to score in the 71st minute benefiting from the goalkeepers failure to handle a cross and that was enough as Zone A and B shared spoils in an entertaining thriller.
This friendly match is part of preparations for leading upto the 12th Edition of the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be hosted by Morocco from 2-23 July.
